I've just seen Chris Rushworth sprint over to the Durham coaches who hand him a bottle of bubbly.

The Durham paceman took 4-52 to become the county's all-time leading wicket taker.

Scott Borthwick has his wicket as Charlie Morris feathers one through to the keeper to fall for a 13-ball duck.

Durham do go second in the Group One table, three points behind Essex having played one game fewer.

What a season this could be for the northerners.

    Worcestershire 164-9 (target 323)

Nice drive from Josh Tongue as he smashes England international Mark Wood for four.

For those wondering there's 33 overs left in the day plus a possible further 30 minutes. That's a long time for Worcestershire to bat out for a sixth consecutive draw.

  5. Postpublished at 16:08 British Summer Time 16 May 2021

    Worcestershire 158-9 (target 323)

And now Scott Borthwick bowls a maiden to number 11 Charlie Morris.

No five-for for Chris Rushworth it seems. Mark Wood returns to the attack.

And straight to Durham as it's edged by Josh Tongue...

    ...but doesn't carry.

    Another maiden from Chris Rushworth.

And Essex have their second Championship win of the season as Alex Hughes is caught off a leading edge, giving Sam Cook figures of 3-45.

The 24 points earned lift Essex to the top of the Group One table, three clear of Notts - and Durham, if they polish off Worcestershire.

Derbyshire's top order mustered some useful partnerships, but no pair was able to turn useful into sizeable as spinner Simon Harmer tied up one end, taking 3-122 to give him 12 wickets in the match.

The visitors remain bottom of the group and have still to register their first victory of the season.

  8. Postpublished at 16:01 British Summer Time 16 May 2021

    Worcestershire 158-9 (target 323)

Another fine over from Scott Borthwick although Josh Tongue does get a single off the last ball. He'll keep the strike for another Chris Rushworth over.

  9. Postpublished at 16:00 British Summer Time 16 May 2021

    Worcestershire 157-9 (target 323)

Number 11 Charlie Morris knows how to hold a bat. He blocks out as Rushworth finishes off his wicket-maiden over.

    Had to be him!

Another fantastic in-swinger from Chris Rushworth traps Ben Cox leg before.

That's 4-52 so far for Rushworth. Durham are one wicket away.

WICKETpublished at 15:55 British Summer Time 16 May 2021

    Stanlake c Westley b S Cook 8 (Derbyshire 248-9)

Left-handed Billy Stanlake slices Sam Cook behind point for four, but next ball it is all over for the Australian as he attempts a lofted drive and is taken by Tim Westley at mid-on.

Only one more needed now by Essex and they are poised to take over as leaders of Group One. Dustin Melton is Derbyshire's number 11.

  12. Postpublished at 15:53 British Summer Time 16 May 2021

    Essex 412-3 dec v Derbyshire 146 & 242-8

What a workhorse Simon Harmer is. He has sent down almost 70 overs in this game and it surely is a cricketing travesty that his international career was restricted to five Test caps.

Alex Hughes takes a couple from the first ball of Harmer's latest, but there is nothing doing for Derbyshire from the rest and they still need 24 more to avoid an innings defeat.

  13. Postpublished at 15:47 British Summer Time 16 May 2021

    Worcestershire 150-8 (target 323)

Scott Borthwick has come into the attack alongside Rushworth by the way. He's bowled some beautiful stuff but hasn't got his wicket quite yet.

Ben Cox is blocking well on nine from 23. New man Josh Tongue has yet to get off the mark from nine balls.

    Nearly there.

A third wicket in the innings for Chris Rushworth who traps Joe Leach leg before. Absolutely plumb that.

Durham are two wickets away from a second win of the season.

And we're back under way at Chester-le-Street after a quick tea break.

Chris Rushworth returns to the attack.

Another one gone at Chelmsford and that is an excellent delivery by Jamie Porter, which just does enough to take the edge, and Sir Alastair C grabs a low catch at first slip.

Australian Billy Stanlake is the new batsman, with Derbyshire needing another 30 to avoid an innings defeat.

  18. Tea at the Riversidepublished at 15:23 British Summer Time 16 May 2021

    Worcestershire 136-7 (target 323)

What a session from Durham and one which will be remembered for Chris Rushworth's dismissal of Jack Haynes to become Durham's all-time leading wicket-taker.

    Bravo.

Durham need three wickets after tea to win. Worcestershire need another 277 runs.

  19. Weather lifts in Cardiffpublished at 15:19 British Summer Time 16 May 2021

    Glamorgan 149 & 108-3 v Yorkshire 230

Just when it looked like we weren't going to see any play at Sophia Gardens, conditions have improved and the umpires are hoping for a 16:15 BST start, though that is subject to a 15:40 inspection. There will be 28 overs of play possible if the go ahead is given.

Glamorgan are 27 in front, with David Lloyd 40 not out and Kiran Carlson on 44. Kiran is 23 today, so happy birthday to him.

Wicket number 12 in the match for Simon Harmer.

And a third catch for Ryan ten Doeschate who again holds on at point.

Fynn Hudson-Prentice made eight from eight. Derbyshire are still 36 runs away from making Essex bat again.
