    Ryan ten Doeschate is 40 years old but he still has excellent reflexes and a great pair of hands. That wasn't as good a catch as the earlier one to get rid of Wayne Madsen, but it was still a sharp chance at short leg.

    That is 11 wickets in the game now for Simon Harmer and Derbyshire are still 48 short of making Essex bat again as Fynn Hudson-Prentice walks out to bat.

    Delray Rawlins pulls one down short and Ollie Robinson hoists it away over deep mid-wicket for six. That was a freebie for the Kent batsman.

    A single in the following over for Jack Leaning sees the pair post a 150 stand and Robinson celebrates by pulling Tom Clark away for four.

    With that, rain returns and the players head off for tea. Leaning has 109 and Robinson is 80 not out.

    A single off Delray Rawlins takes Jack Leaning to a 209-ball hundred, his sixth in first class cricket and second for Kent against Sussex, having hit an unbeaten 220 against them in last summer's Bob Willis Trophy.

    He punches the air with pleasure on reaching three figures and it has been a fine-patient knock by the ex-Yorkshire batsman. The Kent lead is 210.

  10. Century stand by Kent pair

    George Garton has finally been brought into the attack by Sussex, but nothing doing wickets-wise in his opening over.

    Jack Leaning takes two runs from the opening delivery of the next, bowled by Delray Rawlins, and brings up a 100 partnership with Ollie Robinson.

    He is now 86 not out and Robinson has 53.
