Robbie White keeps out the first three balls of the final over, bowled by Reece Topley, and as the clock approaches 19:00 the players shake hands.

That was a great effort by Middlesex to chase a target of 290, and who knows what might have happened if rain hadn't robbed them of five overs as the match was nearing its climax.

Superb batting by Nick Gubbins, who made 124 off 145 balls and put on 172 with Peter Handscomb, but Middlesex now look out of it in the race to progress from Group Two.

With three games left, they are 49 points behind Somerset in second place and must beat bottom of the table Leicestershire in their next game.

Tom Helm tries to cut the last ball of the over, doesn't make a clean contact and Kemar Roach finishes with 5-86 - and match figures of 9-147.

Another slower delivery from Kemar Roach, but this time Nick Gubbins spots it and clobbers it over the rope for a maximum over mid-wicket.

A wide follows. What can Gubbins do from Roach's final delivery? Just a single as he punches it down the ground - 54 from five required.

Ouch. After a couple of singles to start the over, Nick Gubbins clonks himself on the foot as he tries to keep out a Reece Topley yorker.

He pulls the next ball, but it's only one run - Middlesex badly need a big finish to this over.

They don't get it. Again, only singles are permitted - 66 from six needed.
