    Derbys 258 v Durham 168-7

Matt Critchley removed Stuart Poynter shortly before tea but it won't affect the result. Ned Eckersley has batted well for his unbeaten 72 off just 88 balls.

    Draw looming.

  2. GLOUCS v SOMERSET ABANDONED AS DRAWpublished at 15:38 British Summer Time 23 May 2021
    Breaking

    Gloucestershire 27-6 v Somerset 300-8 dec

No point in waiting for the scheduled 16:00 inspection, there won't be any further play in the West Country derby.

Somerset must have fancies their chances of at least enforcing the follow-on, having picked up up four wickets this morning - three of them to Craig Overton - but rain arrived after the dismissal of Iain Cockbain.

Gloucestershire's 10 points keeps them top of Group Two, but Somerset earn 13 and are now only one point behind.

Overton finished with 4-16 and now has 36 Championship wickets this season at a cost of just 12.86 runs each.

WICKETpublished at 15:27 British Summer Time 23 May 2021

    Libby c Duckett b Broad 64 (Notts 400-5 dec v Worcs 80 & 103-4 f/o)

    MASSIVE wicket for Notts...

Jake Libby clips Stuart Broad aerially towards square leg where Dane Paterson takes a good tumbling catch.

Libby's fine resistance is over and Worcestershire look vulnerable once again.

  5. Postpublished at 15:26 British Summer Time 23 May 2021

    Notts 400-5 dec v Worcs 80 & 103-3 (f/o)

Hundred up for Worcestershire in their second innings at Trent Bridge.

45 overs remain for Notts to try and get another seven wickets, but we're not going to get all of those.

Another 20 maybe at a push before the rain moves in.

  6. 15:30 BST restart at Chelmsfordpublished at 15:18 British Summer Time 23 May 2021

    Essex 217 v Warwickshire 166 & 66-1 - tea

They've finally begun to peel the covers off at Essex while they take an early tea, and if it stays dry they'll look to resume in 10 or so minutes.

  7. 50 runs

for Eckersleypublished at 15:17 British Summer Time 23 May 2021

    Derbys 258 v Durham 143-6

Ned Eckersley takes 16 off an Alex Hughes over - four fours - and moves from 39 to 55 in the process.

The Durham batsman also goes past 7,000 first-class runs.

    Robson c Clarke b Topley 32 (Surrey 190 & 259-2 dec v Middlesex 160 & 47-2)

    Reece TopleyImage source, Getty Images

Rikki Clarke normally has a safe pair of hands but he needs a bit of help from his midriff to hang on to that one at second slip.

Reece Topley strikes with his third delivery at the start of a new spell, angling the ball across Sam Robson and drawing the edge.

Peter Handscomb joins Nick Gubbins for Middlesex.

  9. Postpublished at 15:08 British Summer Time 23 May 2021

Gloucestershire 27-6 v Somerset 300-8 dec - rain stopped play

There is to be a 16:00 inspection at Bristol where we haven't seen any play for almost three hours. Ryan Higgins is five not out for Gloucestershire and Miles Hammond has yet to score.

  10. Postpublished at 15:06 British Summer Time 23 May 2021

    Surrey 190 & 259-2 dec v Middlesex 160 & 46-1

Sam Robson is squared up by Kemar Roach but the ball squirts away past the slips for four runs. No danger for the batsman as the ball wouldn't have carried to the cordon.

Robson clips the next delivery - a leg stump half-volley - through mid-wicket for another boundary as he progresses to 31 not out.

  11. 600 runs for Libbypublished at 15:05 British Summer Time 23 May 2021

    Notts 400-5 dec v Worcs 80 & 82-3

Pears opener Jake Libby has now gone past 600 runs for the season.

He's the second top scorer in the 2021 County Championship behind Durham's David Bedingham.

Lots of batsmen in decent form around the circuit.

    Bancroft lbw b Critchley 39 (Derbys 258 v Durham 117-6)

There's another bowling bonus point for Derbyshire.

Spinner Matt Critchley ends Cameron Bancroft's three-hour stay at the crease by trapping him lbw.

    Essex 217 v Warwickshire 166 & 66-1 - rain delay

The covers are still on at Chelmsford.

Probably time to give this one up lads.

  14. Postpublished at 14:54 British Summer Time 23 May 2021

    Derbys 258 v Durham 117-5

Cameron Bancroft and Ned Eckersley's unbroken stand of 60 has removed any threat of Durham losing this match at Derby now.

They have avoided the follow-on and so it's all about how many bonus points each side can pick up.

  15. Postpublished at 14:53 British Summer Time 23 May 2021

    Surrey 190 & 259-2 dec v Middlesex 160 & 28-1

The onus is very much on Surrey's bowlers now as those brief rain hold-ups appear to have put the target out of reach for Middlesex.

Nick Gubbins has flicked Rikki Clarke away for four but the last two overs have seen only three singles added to the total.

Another 262 needed by the visitors from a maximum of 50 overs.

  16. 50 runs

for Libbypublished at 14:51 British Summer Time 23 May 2021

    Notts 400-5 dec v Worcs 80 & 73-3 (f/o)

A bit of relief for Worcestershire as opener Jake Libby goes to fifty for the fifth time this season.

Good time too, off just 60 balls.

He could be the key to the Pears survival hopes at Trent Bridge.

    Haynes c & b Fletcher 0 (Notts 400-5 dec v Worcs 80 & 63-3)

MAKE THAT 10 IN THE MATCH!

Jack Haynes punts the ball back to Luke Fletcher who takes a good catch off his own bowling.

3-13 in this innings to go with his 7-37 in the first. Incredible pace bowling.

    Fell c Slater b Fletcher 13 (Notts 400-5 dec v Worcs 80 & 63-2)

    Luke Fletcher strikes! Who else?!

The giant paceman picks up his ninth wicket of the match as Tom Fell pops one up into the leg side and Ben Slater takes a simple catch at short leg.

Notts may need a few more quickly with the rain closing in from the west.

    Surrey v Middlesex 21-1 (target 290)

Another short-lived shower at The Oval and they're back out.

Sam Robson and Nick Gubbins are at the crease for Middlesex but that target of 290 seems increasingly nominal now.
