    Essex 217 v Warwickshire 166 & 63-0

We also have a resumption at Chelmsford after a rain delay.

Warwickshire lead by 12 and barring a total collapse they should have done enough to earn a draw.

    Derbys 258 v Durham 51-4

Back under way after lunch at The Incora County Ground.

This game is likely to be all about the bonus points now.

  3. Postpublished at 13:38 British Summer Time 23 May 2021

    Northamptonshire v Lancashire 76-1

Would you believe it - we have play in Northampton!

Luke Wells scores the first run with a single off Gareth Berg - and it's the first of his innings too.

  4. No resumption yet at Bristolpublished at 13:35 British Summer Time 23 May 2021

    Gloucestershire 27-6 v Somerset 300-8 dec

No resumption at the County Ground following an early lunch. It's a real disappointment for Somerset, who clearly believed they could force something from the game, judging by their efforts during the morning, taking four wickets.

  5. Back under way at Trent Bridgepublished at 13:32 British Summer Time 23 May 2021

    Notts 400-5 dec v Worcs 80 & 10-1 (f/o)

The skies have brightened in Nottingham following that rain shower which brought an early lunch and the afternoon session has just begun.

Can Notts take nine more wickets in whatever time is left? 72 overs are scheduled to remain, but I'd be HUGELY surprised if we get anywhere near that.

  6. Canterbury inspection at 14:00 BSTpublished at 13:22 British Summer Time 23 May 2021

    Kent v Glamorgan 23-1 (target 304)

The outfield has been left sodden following an earlier heavy rain shower in Canterbury and so the umpires will have a look in about 40 minutes.

Not ideal with so much time taken out of the game already.

  9. Middlesex openers survivepublished at 13:04 British Summer Time 23 May 2021

    Surrey 190 & 259-2 dec v Middlesex 160 & 6-0 - lunch

Sam Robson and Jack Davies rotate the strike in the final over of the morning at the Kia Oval, collecting five singles off Reece Topley.

Their first job is done, preventing any loss before lunch, and Robson is four not out, with Davies on two.

They need 284 to win from 68 overs, Surrey require 10 wickets.

Which way is this one going to go?

Rain stops playpublished at 12:56 British Summer Time 23 May 2021

    Notts 400-5 dec v Worcs 80 & 10-1 (f/o)

Rain arrives at Trent Bridge and so they'll take an early lunch.

Notts will be hoping it passes through quickly so they can have another go at a fragile looking Worcestershire batting line-up in the afternoon session.

  11. Postpublished at 12:54 British Summer Time 23 May 2021

    Surrey 190 & 259-2 dec v Middlesex 160 & 0-0

Here we go then. Middlesex need 290 from 71 overs. It looks a tall order against Surrey's pace attack.

Reece Topley has the new ball and starts with a maiden to Jack Davies. Kemar Roach will start at the other end.

  12. Postpublished at 12:50 British Summer Time 23 May 2021

    Derbys 258 v Durham 47-4

After a brief rain delay, they're back out at Derby.

Jack Burnham has joined Cameron Bancroft in the middle.

  13. Surrey set targetpublished at 12:43 British Summer Time 23 May 2021

    Surrey 190 & 259-2 dec v Middlesex 160

Rory Burns and Ollie Pope reach a 40-ball half-century partnership as the latter pulls Tom Helm away for four.

The lead is now 289 - surely that's enough with only two sessions + a few minutes to go.

Yes it is, as Burns declares after one ball of the next over from Blake Cullen. He ends on 104 not out and Pope has 37.

WICKETpublished at 12:42 British Summer Time 23 May 2021

    Mitchell c Moores b Fletcher 1 (Notts 400-5 dec v Worcs 80 & 7-1)

    Second innings, same story.

It's a lovely outswinging delivery from Luke Fletcher which grazes the outside of Daryl Mitchell's bat and through to the keeper.

Eight wickets for Fletcher in the match and Notts have a real chance of victory if the weather holds.

  15. Postpublished at 12:40 British Summer Time 23 May 2021

    Gloucestershire 27-6 v Somerset 300-8 dec

An early lunch is also being taken in Bristol, where we have seen only 5.2 overs this morning because of two rain interruptions.

Somerset have taken four wickets in those brief passages of play, though, and they won't be giving up on the possibility of victory just yet.

    Kent 307 & 60-1 dec v Glamorgan 64-3 dec & 23-1

The players are off the field at the Spitfire Ground where Glamorgan are chasing a target of 304 against Kent.

Ten dot balls followed the dismissal of David Lloyd, with Darren Stevens and Matt Quinn sending down maidens.

An early lunch is ordered by the umpires.

  17. rain stops play

The rain is now back at Derby and off they go for the umpteenth time in this match.

That may well be an early lunch.

Having seen Rory Burns through to his hundred, it's time for Ollie Pope to have some fun.

A couple of fours off Blake Cullen are followed by a maximum in the next over, bowled by Tim Murtagh, with the ball sailing over the rope at square leg.

Pope follows that with another two balls later, an emphatic pull that travels many rows back into the seats, before putting away a full toss for another boundary.

A single ends the over and takes him to 29 not out from 13 balls. Surrey's lead is 278.

  19. Postpublished at 12:30 British Summer Time 23 May 2021

    Notts 400-5 dec v Worcs 80 & 4-0 (f/o)

Daryl Mitchell and Jake Libby are back out there for Worcestershire.

Stuart Broad and Luke Fletcher continue bowling for Notts.

10 wickets in a couple of sessions and a bit with rain around is a tough, tough ask still but Notts have the firepower to do it.

  20. Four wickets for Aitchisonpublished at 12:29 British Summer Time 23 May 2021

    Derbys 258 v Durham 43-4

Derbyshire seamer Ben Aitchison has just removed Durham captain Scott Borthwick and the County Championship's leading run scorer David Bedingham in the space of four balls.

    Aitchison has 4-8!
