  2. Postpublished at 12:01 British Summer Time 30 May 2021

    Northamptonshire 205-3 (target 218)

Another two fours from Saif Zaib and suddenly it's just 13 required.

Zaib is eight away from a fifth first-class half-century. The partnership is 62 from 11 overs. Brilliant, attacking batting.

  3. 50 runs

for Rob Keoghpublished at 11:54 British Summer Time 30 May 2021

    Northamptonshire 195-3 (target 218)

Rob Keogh has his 50 from 101 deliveries, smashing a four through the covers.

A quick single and then Saif Zaib (32 not out) clips one for six.

    Northamptonshire are 23 away now.

  4. Postpublished at 11:49 British Summer Time 30 May 2021

    Northamptonshire 180-3 (target 218)

Wow, Rob Keogh (45 not out) and Saif Zaib (24 not out) have come out swinging and now Northamptonshire are just 38 runs away from victory.

I thought this would be a tight, gritty affair with number 10 and 11 at the crease needing 15 runs to win.

How wrong I look. Northants are bossing it.

  5. Burgess departs at Edgbastonpublished at 11:45 British Summer Time 30 May 2021

    Warwickshire 341 and 245-7, Notts 297

Michael Burgess is out for 80, as Notts strike for the first time at Edgbaston.

He is caught by Notts skipper Steven Mullaney off spinner Liam Patterson-White.

Danny Briggs is still going well though, as the lead edges up to 293. That will already take some getting.

Have the Bears got the guts to declare though?

  6. wicket

Game over at New Road - Worcestershire winpublished at 11:37 British Summer Time 30 May 2021

    Derbyshire 270 &128, Worcestershire 421

Worcestershire take just four more balls to complete an innings and 23-run win over Derbyshire.

After Dillon Pennington had just completed his first five-wicket haul, to improve his career-best for the second time in the match, Alzarri Joseph finished off the job in the next over,

The West Indian paceman has Dustin Melton caught at slip to round off his final game for the Pears in style.

Four wickets in the match for him - and first win of the season for Worcestershire.

Only Derbyshire, Leicestershire and Kent remain winless now in this season's Championship.

  7. Five-wicket haul for Penningtonpublished at 11:36 British Summer Time 30 May 2021

    Derbyshire 270 and 128-9, Worcestershire 421

It is another career-best for Dillon Pennington, who takes his second wicket of the morning at New Road.

He bowls Sam Conners for 9.

  8. 6 runs

Postpublished at 11:33 British Summer Time 30 May 2021

    Northamptonshire 159-3 (target 218)

New man Saif Zaib isn't going to hang about and let the pressure build.

He smashes Delray Rawlins for four and then wallops a maximum to move to 13 off nine.

Northamptonshire are now 59 runs away, and all that early Sussex pressure is starting to slip away.

  9. wicket

Saqib Mahmood on firepublished at 11:29 British Summer Time 30 May 2021

    Yorkshire 159 & 92-4, Lancashire 509-9 dec

Yorkshire skipper Steve Patterson goes too. The tottering Tykes are now 92-4.

A second wicket of the morning for the lively Saqib Mahmood, who knocks out Patterson's off stump just as he rearranged Will Fraine's timber in the previous over.

A fired-up Mahmood has now taken 3-26 and Lancashire are now six wickets away from victory at Old Trafford.

George Hill comes in to join Harry Brook.

  10. Postpublished at 11:29 British Summer Time 30 May 2021

    Surrey 495 v Gloucestershire 158 & 143-7

Two wickets to tell you about from the Oval where Gloucestershire need another 172 runs just to make Surrey bat again.

First Daniel Moriarty takes his seventh wicket of the match as Miles Hammond edges one behind to fall for 45.

Then Jamie Overton responds in the next over, pinning new man Tom Smith leg before for one.

Surrey are three dismissals away. This could be done and dusted before lunch.

  11. Bears build lead at Edgbastonpublished at 11:25 British Summer Time 30 May 2021

    Warwickshire 341 & 216-6, Notts 297

Warwickshire now lead Notts by 260 runs at Edgbaston.

Michael Burgess (69) and Danny Briggs (20) have so far added 15 this morning.

  12. Postpublished at 11:24 British Summer Time 30 May 2021

    Northamptonshire 141-3 (target 218)

    Big, big wicket at Hove.

Sussex paceman Jamie Atkins finds Luke Procter's edge and Aaron Thomason takes a smart catch in the slips.

Procter falls for 51 having only just made his half-century, while the 84-run partnership also comes to an end as Saif Zaib joins Rob Keogh in the middle.

I'd say Northants are still in control, 77 runs away from the win, but another wicket and things could get very tense.

  13. Postpublished at 11:21 British Summer Time 30 May 2021

    Leicestershire 87-2 (target 378)

Back to Grace Road and Leicestershire's Marcus Harris has just brought up his 32nd first-class half-century from 83 balls.

The Australian is going to have to bat long you feel if the Foxes are to have any chance of getting something out of this game.

  14. wicket

Fraine goes at Old Traffordpublished at 11:19 British Summer Time 30 May 2021

    Fraine b Mahmood 6 (Yorkshire 87-3 v Lancashire)

Saqib Mahmood bowls an absolute beauty in his third over of the day, bring one back to take out middle stump and despatch Will Fraine back to the pavilion.

Harry Brook comes in to join his skipper Steve Patterson, the Tykes' nightwatchman.

Still 263 runs needed to make Lancy bat again. 91 overs left in the day. Seven wickets remaining.

  15. Pears edge closer to victorypublished at 11:16 British Summer Time 30 May 2021

    Derbyshire 270 & 117-8, Worcestershire 421

Two wickets in four balls for Worcestershire at New Road as the Pears move to the brink of victory.

Skipper Joe Leach has main danger man Wayne Madsen caught behind for 45.

Then, from the third ball of the next over, Dillon Pennington removes Ben Aitchison for a golden duck.

Young paceman Pennington's figures now read 4-27. After a career-best 4-44 in the first innings, could he better his best twice in the same game?

New man in to join Alex Hughes is Sam Conners.

  16. Postpublished at 11:10 British Summer Time 30 May 2021

    Leicestershire 83-2 (target 378)

A first wicket of the day and it goes to Middlesex.

Leicestershire opener Sam Evans (26) tickles one behind to the keeper to give Tom Helm a third wicket of the match.

Leicestershire need a further 295 runs to win. That dismissal won't help their cause.

  17. Postpublished at 11:08 British Summer Time 30 May 2021

    Northamptonshire 131-2 (target 218)

A reminder of what's needed at Hove.

Northamptonshire are just 87 runs away from a third victory in the competition this term.

Eight wickets on a competitive pitch is the order of the day for Sussex who have struggled so far this season.

A comeback here though and their campaign will be back on track.

  18. All games off on timepublished at 11:06 British Summer Time 30 May 2021

    Yorkshire 159 & 85-2, Lancashire 509-9 dec

    And we're off!

First over bowled at Old Trafford - and it's a Saqib Mahmood maiden.

  19. Roses Match still in the balancepublished at 10:57 British Summer Time 30 May 2021

    Yorkshire 159 & 85-2, Lancashire 509-9 dec

Our main feature game today is again the Roses Match from Emirates Old Trafford, which could prove a dramatic stage.

Lancashire struck two big blows before the close last night when they removed both Yorkshire openers Adam Lyth (39) and Tom Kohler-Cadmore (32) - but the Tykes are a long way from being beaten.

After Josh Bohannon emulated Keaton Jennings by becoming the second Lancashire centurion, the hosts declared on 509-9 - with a whopping lead of 350. But Yorkshire have shown a great deal more application second time around - and that has frustrated their hosts.

For those 2,000 lucky enough to have tickets in this first round of fixtures to be allowed limited crowds, the final day should be gripping, hard-fought entertainment.

The BBC commentary team of Scott Read, Jonathan Doidge and Kevin Howells are in place at Old Trafford to talk you through every ball . . .
