  1. Signing offpublished at 19:03 British Summer Time 4 July 2021

Two games washed out and significant disruption in most of the others, but the last round of County Championship games still had some enthralling action on day one.

Northamptonshire closed the gap on Yorkshire by three points by bowling them out for just 158 at Wantage Road despite an impressive 71 by young opener George Hill.

Arguably the innings of the day, though, was played by Devon Conway, who marked his red-ball debut for Somerset with 88.

We'll be back tomorrow for day two when we hope to see Ben Stokes and James Anderson in action for Durham and Lancashire respectively.

Gavin Griffiths (3-48) was the pick of the attack for Leicestershire, who went into the game with seven players unavailable because of Covid isolation.

    Sussex 161-7 v Glamorgan - close

Sussex are out of it, as far as the title is concerned, but Glamorgan could still theoretically sneak into the top two in their group with a couple of good wins and defeats for teams above them.
