    Northants v Yorkshire 126-6

Harry Duke is the latest Yorkshire wicket to fall at Wantage Road as he's trapped on the crease by Tom Taylor, who has his second wicket.

Duke departs for five and Jordan Thompson is next in, with George Hill still there on 70.

The ball definitely nipped back a bit there.

WICKET Holland b Clark 58published at 15:41 British Summer Time 4 July 2021

    Hants 155-5 v Surrey

That's the one Surrey wanted. Ian Holland drags the ball onto his stumps as he tries to carve Jordan Clark through the off-side.

The paceman now has 3-40 - but we still haven't seen New Zealand's Kyle Jamieson in the attack since his six overs first thing this morning.

Holland batted for 228 minutes, faced 126 balls and hit seven fours.

    Sussex 23-3 v Glamorgan

Just a few balls after play restarts, after a brief rain delay at Hove, Ali Orr goes lbw to Timm van der Gugten and Sussex are finding things really tough.

It was a close call but the umpire's finger goes up.

Glamorgan are really enjoying bowling in these sticky conditions.

    Breaking

The umpires were planning to inspect at 15:45 BST - but didn't need to wait that long to decide no play will be possible between Lancashire and Kent.

Former all-rounder Steve O'Shaughnessy (pictured) is one of the match officials and he knows a thing or two about the weather in the area as he played for Lancashire in the 1980s.

    We will try again tomorrow.

    Hampshire 145-4 v Surrey

A maiden over from Jordan Clark to Ian Holland.

Perhaps now would be a good time to mention that England's Ollie Pope suffered a thigh strain while batting at Canterbury on Friday.

He's not in the Surrey side for this game and the club say he is to have a scan on Monday.

    Northants v Yorkshire 125-5

George Hill is having some fun out there!

The Yorkshire batsman comes straight down the pitch to lash the ball back over the head of Northants spinner Simon Kerrigan for six.

The 20-year-old has moved onto 70, with his latest partner Harry Juke on four.

  7. rain stops play

    Sussex 23-2 v Glamorgan

    Here we go again.

    Rain. Covers on. Players off.

Batting conditions are tough so Sussex may well be relieved for some respite. They're 23-2, with opener Ali Orr (4 not out) and Australia batsman Travis Head (8 not out) the men in the middle.

Re-start delayed at Nottinghampublished at 15:27 British Summer Time 4 July 2021

    Notts v Derbyshire 74-3

It only seems like 10 minutes since we told you there would be a 15:25 resumption at Trent Bridge - but it was actually 14 minutes. That said, there won't be a resumption as the rain has returned.

  9. Pitch inspection at Tauntonpublished at 15:21 British Summer Time 4 July 2021

    Somerset 134-0 v Leicestershire

    TauntonImage source, Rex Features

They've taken an early tea at Taunton with a pitch inspection scheduled for 15:30 BST.

The latest band of rain has passed and there's hope they can get some more overs in, with Somerset keen to push further on.

  10. wicket

WICKET Bess c Vasconcelos b Berg 10published at 15:19 British Summer Time 4 July 2021

    Northants v Yorkshire 112-5

The ball after Dom Bess gets his first boundary to move into double figures, he gets the faintest edge off Gareth Berg outside off stump and Northants wicketkeeper Ricardo Vasconcelos takes a simple catch.

Yorkshire just can't find a partner for George Hill, who is 61 not out.

  11. wicket

WICKET Vince lbw Clarke 16published at 15:18 British Summer Time 4 July 2021

    Hants 135-4 v Surrey

    Rikki ClarkeImage source, Rex Features

James Vince unfurls another cover drive for four, but it's his final scoring stroke as he plays across the line to the next delivery and is leg-before. Rikki Clarke is chuffed, to say the least.

New Zealander Colin de Grandhomme will be the next Hampshire batsman.

  12. 50 runs

for Ian Hollandpublished at 15:14 British Summer Time 4 July 2021

    Hants 131-3 v Surrey

A poor delivery from Jamie Overton is flipped away to long leg for four and that's Ian Holland's half-century - from 110 balls faced. He's been a model of consistency this season and has over 570 Championship runs to his credit. As this is US Independence Day - now is a good time to remind you that Holland was born in Stevens Point, Wisconsin.

  13. Postpublished at 15:13 British Summer Time 4 July 2021

    Notts v Derbyshire 74-3

Good news at Trent Bridge. Umpires Neil Bainton and Neil Pratt say it will be ok to re-start the match at 15:25 following a rain shower - 11 overs have been lost from the day's allocation.

  14. Postpublished at 15:11 British Summer Time 4 July 2021

    Hants 127-3 v Surrey

Did you see that? Ok, I'll do it again.

James Vince plays two textbook cover drives off Rikki Clarke - both bring him a boundary. Glorious batting.

He is 12 not out and Ian Holland has 46.

  15. Postpublished at 15:05 British Summer Time 4 July 2021

    Sussex 13-2 v Glamorgan

I neglected to say they are back playing at Hove, though Sussex may wish that wasn't the case...

Stiaan van Zyl has his off-stump uprooting by a straight Michael Hogan delivery and he's gone for five.

Humidity and low cloud mean these are difficult batting conditions, and Glamorgan are taking full advantage early on.

  16. Postpublished at 15:03 British Summer Time 4 July 2021

    Hants 117-3 v Surrey

He certainly wasn't in control of that one. Ian Holland flashes at a ball from Jamie Overton and the ball flies away for four over gully. They all count, though, and he is only another boundary short of 50 now.

  17. Postpublished at 14:56 British Summer Time 4 July 2021

Lancashire v Kent - start delayed

The umpires are hoping to inspect at 15:45 BST. Let's hope we see some play today. James Anderson is waiting in the wings for Lancashire.

For some reason the song 'Jim Dandy to the rescue' just came to mind. Black Oak Arkansas anyone?

Rain heavier in Nottinghampublished at 14:53 British Summer Time 4 July 2021

Our hopes of a swift resumption (see 14:37 entry) at Trent Bridge are dashed.

    Northants v Yorkshire 91-4

George Hill celebratesImage source, Getty Images

Yorkshire's George Hill brings up his maiden half-century with an aggressive shot to the boundary.

He's got there off 104 balls and with more experienced team-mates losing their wickets around him.

But shortly after Harry Brook comes down the pitch to attempt an expansive shot off the bowling of Simon Kerrigan and picks out Ben Sanderson at mid-wicket - he departs for seven and Northants remain on top overall.

  20. Postpublished at 14:51 British Summer Time 4 July 2021

    Hants 104-3 v Surrey

Nick Gubbins' first Championship innings for Hampshire is over. Jamie Overton sends down an angled delivery which bounces slightly more than the left-hander expected and his attempted square cut is edged through to wicketkeeper Jamie Smith.

Gubbins rehearses the stroke, looks to the skies momentarily and walks off - gone for 17. James Vince will be next.
