    Notts v Derbyshire 85-5

Fynn Hudson-Prentice edges unconvincingly past the slips and that is the first boundary Luke Fletcher has conceded today. He has also sent down 78 dot balls in his 15 overs so far. That is the equivalent of 13 maidens.

    Northants 40-0 v Yorkshire 158

They've had a decent run in Northampton, weather-wise, but rain has now hit and we'll have an enforced break.

Ricardo Vasconcelos (21 not out) and Emilio Gay (12 not out) haven't looked too troubled for Northants, with the Yorkshire bowlers struggling to find line and length and possibly trying a bit too hard.

This interval will give them time to regroup after a tough day all round.

  3. Postpublished at 17:31 British Summer Time 4 July 2021

    Notts v Derbyshire 76-5

Derbyshire's decline continues as big Luke Fletcher has Harvey Hosein lbw for a second-ball duck. No doubt about that one - no doubt about Fletcher being a real star with the ball today. He has 2-14 from 13 overs now.

  4. First batting point for Somersetpublished at 17:31 British Summer Time 4 July 2021

    Somerset 201-4 v Leicestershire

A four for James Hildreth takes Somerset past the 200 run mark to give them a batting point at Taunton.

Hildreth (15 not out) and Tom Lammonby (10 not out) are steadying the ship somewhat after the loss of four wickets in the space of 10 overs.

A wicket at Trent Bridge where Matt Critchley flashes at a ball from Joey Evison and Haseeb Hameed takes the catch at third slip. Critchley made 23 and the new batsman is Harvey Hosein.

  6. Postpublished at 17:22 British Summer Time 4 July 2021

    Hampshire 221-7 v Surrey

Colin de Grandhomme moves into the 40s with a cover-drive for four off Jordan Clark. He didn't move his front foot to the pitch, but his timing was perfect - no attempt to smash the ball, he just stroked it.

Hampshire lose another wicket in the next over, though, as Keith Barker jabs at a ball from Rikki Clarke and Ryan Patel takes a low catch at second slip. The left-hander goes for nought.

  7. Postpublished at 17:21 British Summer Time 4 July 2021

    Sussex 96-6 v Glamorgan

Travis Head looks to the heavens as he walks before even the umpire has raised his finger, after being caught out by a swinging delivery by Timm van der Gugten.

It hits the Australian leg before and that's a third wicket for Van der Gugten, who is thriving in the Hove gloom.

Head was on 47 and looks dejected.

  8. Resumption at Trent Bridgepublished at 17:16 British Summer Time 4 July 2021

    Notts v Derbyshre 74-3

At long last some play. Matt Critchley is 22 not out, Leus du Plooy, and this could be a tough 23-over session for Derbyshire if there is no more rain. Luke Fletcher opens up for Notts with figures of 1-12 from 11 overs.

  9. Postpublished at 17:13 British Summer Time 4 July 2021

    Somerset 182-4 v Leicestershire

Somerset v LeicestershireImage source, Rex Features

This is turning into a decent afternoon for Leicestershire, who had been struggling to create any opportunities until the wicket of Steve Davies.

They get a helping hand here, though, as Somerset's George Bartlett leaves a full delivery which is plum in front of his stumps - a huge misjudgement - and has to go for 10.

Tom Lammonby, pushed down to six, comes in to accompany James Hildreth.

  10. Postpublished at 17:12 British Summer Time 4 July 2021

    Hampshire 216-6 v Surrey

You have to admire Jordan Clark's persistence. He's in his 21st over of the day and now has his third wicket. Lewis McManus is the man to go, adjudged caught behind down the leg-side for 24.

His dismissal ends a stand of 61 with Colin de Grandhomme, who has now been joined by Keith Barker.

  11. Northants start first inningspublished at 17:06 British Summer Time 4 July 2021

    Northants 11-0 v Yorkshire 158

Ben Coad and Jordan Thompson are opening the bowling for Yorkshire as they look to recover from a poor batting performance at Wantage Road.

Northants have Ricardo Vasconcelos and Emilio Gay in the middle and have managed to negotiate the first couple overs.

  12. Postpublished at 17:00 British Summer Time 4 July 2021

Notts v Derbyshire 74-3 - rain stopped play

We told you there would be a re-start at 17:05, with 25 overs to bowl. Another shower has passed over Trent Bridge, so now those numbers have been revised to 17:15 and 23.

    Somerset 171-3 v Leicestershire

Devon Conway outImage source, Rex Features

    Somerset lose their key man.

It's a flatter delivery from Callum Parkinson and Devon Conway leans forward but it goes through the gap and bowls the New Zealander.

He'd looked so in control, hitting a huge four from the previous delivery, but didn't play that one very well and departs after a fine debut innings.

  14. Postpublished at 16:58 British Summer Time 4 July 2021

    Hampshire 209-5 v Surrey

A productive opening over after tea as Colin de Grandhomme drives Rikki Clarke for four and whips the next delivery square for one to bring up a 50 partnership with Lewis McManus.

McManus ends the over by square cutting for another four and he is 20 not out, with de Grandhomme on 38.

  15. Play resumes at Hovepublished at 16:55 British Summer Time 4 July 2021

    Sussex 81-5 v Glamorgan

It looks very gloomy but they're back under way after tea at Hove, where it's currently Glamorgan's bowling attack against Sussex's Travis Head.

Head does have talented 16-year-old Danial Ibrahim alongside him, and the duo could do with sticking together for some time if possible.

  16. Yorkshire all out for 158published at 16:52 British Summer Time 4 July 2021

    Northants v Yorkshire 158

With George Hill (71) out of the way Northants wrap up the Yorkshire innings with minimum fuss.

Rob Keogh, Tom Taylor, Wayne Parnell and Simon Kerrigan take two wickets apiece for the hosts, with Ben Coad (0) and Jordan Thompson (22) the final Yorkshire batsmen to fall.

Northants were 12 points behind their second-placed visitors in Group 3 but have have closed that gap by three.

  17. Hope of re-start in Nottinghampublished at 16:47 British Summer Time 4 July 2021

    Notts v Derbyshire 74-3

The umpires have assessed the conditions and hope to re-start the match at 17:05. Assuming there are no further interruptions, another 25 overs could be bowled before the close.

  18. Sussex have lots of work to dopublished at 16:46 British Summer Time 4 July 2021

    Sussex 80-5 v Glamorgan

    Nick Webb
    BBC Radio Wales

Sussex were left counting the cost of their decision to bat first against Glamorgan after seeing half their side dismissed in the first session.

Timm van der Gugten and Michael Hogan bowled very tight opening spells under cloudy skies with the floodlights coming on, while a wicket for James Weighell left the home side on 34-4 after a couple of marginal lbws.

Australia’s Travis Head got going for the first time this season in the red-ball game, sharing a stand of 41 with Ben Brown before the captain on 22 nicked Dan Douthwaite through to keeper Chris Cooke.

With 30 overs left, Head and the lower order have a lot of work left tonight.

  19. Postpublished at 16:45 British Summer Time 4 July 2021

    Somerset 151-2 v Leicestershire

A second wicket in quick succession for Will Davis, who gets an outside edge from Lewis Goldsworthy for a comfortable catch at second slip for Leicestershire captain Colin Ackermann.

All of a sudden the Somerset batsmen look a little flustered.

Davis has been the pick of the Foxes bowlers today and is getting reward for his patience.

  20. No play at Edgbastonpublished at 16:40 British Summer Time 4 July 2021
    Breaking

So the only action today was the toss - which Durham won and Scott Borthwick chose to put Warwickshire in.

The players never made it to the middle because of a series of rain showers, and must hope the weather is kinder on day two.

Ben Stokes will be in the Durham side, having made six appearances for them in the T20 Blast. His last red-ball game was for England against India at Ahmedabad in March
