  2. Lunch at Edgbastonpublished at 13:09 British Summer Time 7 July 2021

    Warwickshire 237 v Durham 253-7

David Bedingham will have to wait until after lunch to try and complete a century as Warwickshire's Liam Norwell ends the morning session with a maiden over to Graham Clark.

Bedingham is 92 not out, off 161 balls, and Durham have another 20 overs this afternoon to try and pick up at least one more batting point.

  3. Lunch at Hovepublished at 13:07 British Summer Time 7 July 2021

    Sussex 226 and 183-5 v Glam 215

Sussex 194 ahead thanks to Ali Orr’s 80 and Ben Brown’s unbeaten 54.

I wonder what appetite, if any, there might be to set up a run chase this afternoon.

Glamorgan will perhaps be content with a draw to ensure they’ll be in Division Two in September.

Colin de Grandhomme bowls the final over before lunch and unsurprisingly it's a maiden to Hashim Amla. Surrey have scored 18 runs from 30.3 overs in the morning session as they try to save this match.

Amla is three not out and Ryan Patel has 10. There are a maximum of 66 overs still to come in the day.

  5. Lunch at Tauntonpublished at 13:05 British Summer Time 7 July 2021

    Somerset 461-9d v Leics 475-7

    What a morning for Leicestershire.

Harry Swindells, 171, and Ed Barnes, 83, have taken them through to lunch.

The stand of 203 is now the record eighth-wicket partnership in Leicestershire’s history.

  6. Declaration at Old Traffordpublished at 13:03 British Summer Time 7 July 2021

Lancashire 259-9 dec v Kent - start delayed

Play is due to begin at 13:10 and Lancashire have decided there is no point prolonging their first innings. Luke Wood finishes on 63 not out. The lead is 185. For Kent, the rest of the day is about survival.

  7. Postpublished at 13:00 British Summer Time 7 July 2021

    Hampshire 488 v Surrey 72 & 22-3

Still no second breakthrough of the morning for Hampshire.

There have been 26 maidens in the 37 bowled so far in this innings, but you have to hand it to Hashim Amla and Ryan Patel, who have defied everything the home side have sent down.

Amla has three from 90 balls faced and Patel 10 from 67.

  8. Postpublished at 12:51 British Summer Time 7 July 2021

    Warwickshire 237 v Durham 253-7

Durham have their second batting point as David Bedingham cover drives Ryan Sidebottom for four. He is 92 not out and looking for a fourth Championship century of the season.

  9. 13:10 BST start at Cheltenhampublished at 12:50 British Summer Time 7 July 2021

    Glos 248 & 198-6 v Middx 101

An early lunch at the College and it won’t be too long before they’re underway on day three.

  10. Leicestershire leadpublished at 12:49 British Summer Time 7 July 2021

    Somerset 461-9d v Leics 464-7

    Well who’d have thought that?

What an outstanding effort from Leicestershire and particularly this eighth-wicket pair Harry Swindells and Ed Barnes.

They arrived at 272-7 and Somerset looked like taking a big lead.

But they have been repelled in quite some fashion with this pair of career-bests.

Who, I wonder, buys the round of drinks?

Might have to be a double…

  11. Postpublished at 12:49 British Summer Time 7 July 2021

    Hampshire 488 v Surrey 72 & 22-3

Time for spin as Hampshire bring on Felix Organ. There is a bit of extra bounce from his first delivery, but Ryan Patel survives.

Colin de Grandhomme is called up for the next over, having made 174 not out in Hampshire's first innings.

  12. 50 runs

for Ben Brownpublished at 12:45 British Summer Time 7 July 2021

    Sussex 226 & 177-5 v Glam 215

A half-century for the Sussex captain in 81 balls.

But no maiden ton for Ali Orr, he’s fallen for 80 but a fine innings to hold Glamorgan at bay.

This game could yet come alive this afternoon.

Glamorgan might see little value in a draw and have a dip at any target - perhaps as a T20 warm-up.

Which would give Sussex a chance to maybe pinch the game.

  13. Postpublished at 12:40 British Summer Time 7 July 2021

    Warwickshire 237 v Durham 243-7

Durham have the lead and David Bedingham moves into the 80s with a boundary through the covers off Craig Miles - the 14th of his innings.

There are 23 overs for Durham to lift their batting points tally. They could do with getting to 300, if possible.

  14. Raining at Tauntonpublished at 12:35 British Summer Time 7 July 2021

    Somerset 461-9d v Leics 444-7

Still no breakthrough for Somerset and now time lost to rain.

I’m still loathe to say their chance of victory is looking remote given their history.

  15. Postpublished at 12:33 British Summer Time 7 July 2021

    Hampshire 488 v Surrey 72 & 18-3

A single to Hashim Amla from the latest Keith Barker over. The left-armer now has figures of 11 overs, nine maidens, two wickets for two runs.

A boundary at the Ageas Bowl.

Ryan Patel angles the bat and the ball runs away past the slips.

Five dot balls follow but that's an expensive over from Brad Wheal by this morning's standards.

    Hampshire 488 v Surrey 72 & 13-3

    Hashim AmlaImage source, Rex Features

For a batsman who scored over 9,000 runs in Tests and has 27 centuries to his credit in one-day internationals, this is an innings of single-minded self-denial by Hashim Amla.

The South African has faced 60 balls for his one not out and Surrey have only scored seven runs since the start of play.

  18. for Craig Milespublished at 12:15 British Summer Time 7 July 2021

    Warwickshire 237 v Durham 221-7

Well bowled Craig Miles, who removes Jack Burnham for two with the help of a good low catch by Rob Yates at third slip.

It's Miles' 23rd Championship wicket of the season and the 16th time he has taken five or more wickets in an innings.

Durham's second replacement Graham Clark is next man in.

  19. First wicket for Yatespublished at 12:04 British Summer Time 7 July 2021

    Warwickshire 237 v Durham 213-6

Rob Yates will have enjoyed that.

Ned Eckersley becomes his maiden victim in first-class cricket as he chips a catch to Sam Hain at mid-wicket.

Eckersley made 27 and his partnership with David Bedingham added 73 for the sixth wicket.

Next man in is Jack Burnham, who is a replacement in this game for Ben Stokes or Brydon Carse. Graham Clark is deputising for the other.

  20. Bedingham in the runs againpublished at 11:59 British Summer Time 7 July 2021

    Warwickshire 237 v Durham 205-5

    Martin Emmerson
    BBC Radio Newcastle

David Bedingham has passed 50 for the 22nd time in his first-class career and the sixth time this season. He got there with a lovely cover drive which went for four off Ryan Sidebottom's bowling.

The South African was the first player this season to reach 800 Championship runs - he passed that mark yesterday.

He's also put on 65 with Ned Eckersley for the sixth wicket and that has brought up the 200 for Durham and a first batting point.

Thunderstorms are forecast this afternoon but despite losing a day and a half there hasn't been a weather interruption so far today.
