There is a Facebook page celebrating 'Hashim Amla - The Wall'.

And now we all know why he has that nickname after his 278 balls of refuse-to-budge self-denial earned Surrey a draw with Hampshire, having been bowled out for 72 in their first innings.

All five games on day four ended in draws - but Lancashire's result against Kent was enough to ensure they will finish in the top two in Group Three.

Thank you for your company. Enjoy the football this evening.

Middx 97-3 need 420 to beat Glos

This has been hard work in the final two hours of the day.

Only 45 runs have been scored in 37 overs.

But more crucially only one more wicket went down in that time.

It leaves Gloucestershire with perhaps a little more work to do tomorrow than they would have envisaged.

    But they remain firm favourites.

Hashim Amla and Rikki ClarkeImage source, Rex Features

Hashim Amla blocks out five deliveries from Kyle Abbott and the players touch fists/elbows on a draw at the Ageas Bowl.

What a Herculean effort from the South African, who batted through the entire day for his 37 not out - and only had one escape, when Ian Holland dropped him off Keith Barker.

There were 63 maidens sent down during the day by the Hampshire attack, with Barker taking 3-9 from 22 overs and Felix Organ 2-35 from 25.

Hampshire take 15 points, though, and will start the next round of matches 11 points behind Group Two leaders Somerset.

Brad Wheal comes in again and Rikki Clarke tucks him away for a couple of runs - the first of his innings.

Try as he might Wheal can't produce a breakthrough and ends his stint with 1-26 from 22 overs, nine of them maidens.

Six balls left in the game.

Middx 80-3 need 420 to beat Glos

In theory there is enough time left in the game for Middlesex to win.

But not at this rate of scoring.

28 runs have come in 29 overs.

It could be a hard slog ahead for Gloucestershire to take the remaining seven wickets.

    Eight more overs tonight.

There's a moment of excitement as the ball flies to short leg but it came off the pad. It's another maiden - there are four overs left.

    Sussex 226 & 263-6d v Glam 215 & 154-5

A fine effort from Sussex but Glamorgan have done enough for the draw.

Naturally, captain Ben Brown will be questioned on the timing of his declaration.

Particularly as Sussex had to win to stand any chance of escaping the bottom two.

The draw means Glamorgan will play in Division Two come September.

Spinner Tom Hartley - drafted in to replace Matt Parkinson - was the pick of the home attack, claiming 4-42.

Lancashire will go into Sunday's Roses match at Headingley two points behind Yorkshire, but both sides are in a strong position to progress to the next phase of the title race.
