Glam 64-2 need 275 to beat Sussex

Second strike for Sussex and your man Jack Carson has removed another very dangerous hitter in Colin Ingram.

A tame dismissal as he taps a full delivery to short leg.

Good sharp catch though by Aaron Thomason in his right hand.

29 overs left on the south coast.

    Lancashire 259-9 dec v Kent 74 & 122-5

A moment of alarm for Kent as an uppish drive by Darren Stevens flew just out of James Anderson's reach. Two maidens since then - Stevens is 12 not out and Jack Leaning has 40. Kent are 62 behind with 25 overs left.

With a silly mid-on and silly mid-off in place, Colin de Grandhomme knocks out Ben Geddes' off stump and Hampshire now need four more wickets for victory. Geddes added 27 in 16 overs with Hashim Amla.

Jordan Clark is the new batsman and is immediately hit on the shoulder by one that bounces far more than he expected.

    Hampshire 488 v Surrey 72 & 87-5

After five overs for no runs, Colin de Grandhomme's figures are spoiled by Ben Geddes collecting two runs and a boundary through square leg in his latest over.

It moves the teenager into double figures with the immovable object Hashim Amla on 26 at the other end. There are 30 overs to go - five until the second new ball.

  12. Sussex 'may have left it too late'published at 15:55 British Summer Time 7 July 2021

    Sussex 226 &263-6 dec v Glamorgan 215 & 33-1

    Adrian Harms
    BBC Sussex

A Sussex declaration leaving Glamorgan to score 275 in 51 overs may be too conservative to allow for a run chase.

However, the hosts will have been encouraged with the last ball before tea from leg-spinner Will Beer turning sharply.

Ben Brown, the Sussex skipper, brought up his 20th first-class hundred with a six over deep backward square after which the declaration followed.

Meanwhile, during the lunch break Jofra Archer continued his comeback from elbow surgery, bowling at what looked on occasions to be at almost full pace.

Jack Leaning forces James Anderson away for four through the off-side off the back foot as Kent's total passes 100. They need another 82 to avoid an innings defeat with 39 overs to go after this one.

  19. wicket
