A second wicket of the day at Chester-le-Street as Joey Evison becomes Matt Salisbury's third victim.
Surrey 240 v Somerset 429 & 9-1
Early departure for Somerset as Ravi Ashwin tempts Steve Davies into an edge that carries to Jamie Smith behind the stumps.
Bears 395, Pears 447-9 dec
Worcestershire have declared on on 447-9, with a 52-run lead over Warwickshire at New Road.
Ed Barnard was not out on 112 - a knock that took his run haul for the season to 580 - at an average of 64.44, the eighth best in the country.
Glos 229 & 151-4 v Hants 486-7 dec
Ey up.
Bit of a bouncer from Brad Wheal and Tom Lace decides to abandon caution for a moment, although the swing might half have been in self-defence.
Either way, he just gets enough on it to evade a leaping fielder on the ropes. The Gloucestershire deficit down to 106.
Kent 165 v Sussex 181 & 332-4 dec
Not sure what Travis Head will think about Sussex skipper Ollie Robinson's decision to declare - the Aussie finishes on 49no!
Could have at least let him get his 50, Ollie.
A lead of 348. Can they bowl out Kent - a makeshift Kent, remember, hit by Covid-related withdrawals and featuring youngsters and second XI players - to avoid finishing bottom of Group Three?
Middlesex 324 &196, Leicestershire 228
Early blow for Leicestershire in their bid to chase 293 to win at Merchant Taylors' School.
Sam Evans goes to the first ball of Middlesex skipper Tim Murtagh's second over.
Aussie Marcus Harris comes in to join Lewis Hill.
Glamorgan 462-4 dec v Northants 215 & 39-2
Virtually an exact replica of Michael Neser's first wicket for Glamorgan half an hour ago.
Emilio Gay learns nothing from his skipper Ricardo Vasconcelos' departure down the leg side and goes the same way.
Glamorgan lead by 200 and are big favourites to leapfrog their visitors into third place in Group Two.

Notts 324 & 150-6, Durham 165
Notts skipper Steven Mullaney is gone, a shade unluckily as he attempts to drive Matty Potts.
He gets an inside edge which uproots his leg stump and sends it cartwheeling.
Brett Hutton has come in to join Liam Patterson-White as the Notts lead mounts.

Notts 328 & 150-5, Durham 165
Steven Mullaney has already added 21 runs this morning.
Joey Evison, a five-wicket hero yesterday, has just got his first run of the day.
The Notts lead is up to 312 as they bring up their 150.
Glos 229 & 140-4 v Hants 486-7 dec
We said how important Tom Lace would be for Gloucestershire and he punishes a couple of loose Colin de Grandhomme deliveries with boundaries to reach his half-century.
It's come off 114 balls which isn't bad going considering the hosts are mostly of a defensive mindset with the situation they're in.
The runs are nice but the numbers Lace and Gloucestershire, still 117 behind with Hampshire's second innings to come, will be looking at are the remaining minutes and overs in the day as they look to avoid defeat.
At only 11:37 BST, of course, those numbers are pretty high.
Bears 395, Pears 425-9
Liam Norwell removes Adam Finch for 31, to end his 101-run stand with centurion Ed Barnard.
Last man Josh Baker comes in for his first bat in first-class cricket.
Surrey 240 v Somerset 429 & 0-0
Somerset are having a bat at the Kia Oval.
They're either not bothered about the win or are giving their bowlers a break. Fair enough either way. They're already through to Division One.
Glos 229 & 128-4 v Hants 486-7 dec
Decent response from Gloucestershire to the early blow of losing Glenn Phillips.
Tom Lace is unbeaten on 38 and he's going to have a huge part to play if Gloucestershire are to salvage this one.
He survives a big lbw shout but there appeared an inside edge on to the pad so the correct call from the umpire.
Middlesex 324 & 196, Leicestershire 228
And a third wicket of the morning for Leicestershire spinner Callum Parkinson.
Just two deliveries later, he also bags last man Tim Murtagh, who wafts his second ball to Will Davis at deep midwiicket.
He ends up with 4-35 and that leaves Leicestershire needing 293 to win.
It seems a lot but, as Foxes coach Paul Nixon pointed out last night, when these two sides met earlier in the season back in late May at Grace Road, they successfully chased 378 to win.
If the Foxes got that, they would leap above Surrey in the table and play their final four games of the summer in Division Two, not Three.
The injured Steve Eskinazi was left unbeaten on 66 - a painful thigh strain, admittedly, which might keep him out for a few weeks. But 89 runs in the match and two asterisks, having retired hurt in the first innings.

Surrey 240 v Somerset 429
Two words. Jack Leach.
The England spinner wraps up the Surrey innings by trapping Amar Virdi lbw and that's 6-43 for the bespectacled bowler.
Roelof van der Merwe (4-54) supported him well while Surrey's mediocre season continued despite half-centuries for Rory Burns and Mark Stoneman. Just the one batting point for the hosts.
Somerset have already sealed top spot in Group Two. Will they go for the jugular and another win, perhaps enforce the follow-on?
Kent 165 v Sussex 181 & 290-4
Wickets falling everywhere! Tough to keep up!
Sussex have grasped the initiative in this one with a fine second-innings batting display but Oli Carter has fell early on today.
The visitors need a win to move off the bottom of the Group Three table - and condemn Kent to the wooden spoon instead but Matt Quinn strikes for the third time for the hosts.
Glos 229 & 107-4 v Hants 486-7 dec
What a start for Hampshire.
Gloucestershire failed to add to their overnight 107-3 before losing Glenn Phillips, who top-scored in their first innings.
It's a big wicket and it's come from a big man, Colin de Grandhomme removing Phillips lbw.
Hampshire firm, firm favourites now for the remaining Division One spot from Group Two.
Glamorgan 462-4 dec v Northants 215 & 0-1
A wicket in the second ball of the day at Sophia Gardens too.
Glamorgan declared on a whopping 462-4 overnight after a record-breaking 307-run partnership between Kiran Carlson and skipper Chris Cooke.
Cooke is straight back in the action behind the stumps, with a smart catch, anticipating Northants skipper Ricardo Vasconcelos nicking one down leg side.
Glamorgan sniffing victory already with a 240-plus lead.

Bears 395, Pears 419-8
Ed Barnard does not take long to nudge the two singles he needed to reach his hundred.
It's a second century of the season for the Worcestershire and England Lions all-rounder.
Adam Finch is on 31, their stand has reached 96 and the Pears lead by 25.
