NOTTINGHAMSHIRE BEAT SOMERSET BY AN INNINGS AND 160 RUNSpublished at 17:20 British Summer Time 1 September 2021
    Breaking

    D1: Somerset 107 & 181 v Nottinghamshire 448

It's all over in Taunton where Nottinghamshire have wrapped up a devastating victory and a first first-class win on the ground since 1985.

Luke Fletcher ends proceedings with a beauty that number 11 Jack Brooks plays all around to finish with seven wickets in the match.

From 208-6 on Monday, Notts have completely controlled the match thanks to Liam Patterson-White's maiden hundred and super bowling from Fletcher, Dane Paterson and Brett Hutton.

They take 23 points for this win, and Somerset a miserable two.

  3. Pressure on Hants openerspublished at 17:15 British Summer Time 1 September 2021

    Hampshire 163 & 0-0 v Yorkshire 243 & 312-6 dec

So 19 overs for Hampshire to face - light permitting - before the close.

Joe Weatherley and Ian Holland only made one and nought in the first innings - but Weatherley forces Ben Coad's delivery away off the back foot for four.

That'll make him feel a little better.

Steve Patterson has seen enough and the declaration is made by the Yorkshire skipper.

Hampshire will face a target of 393 for victory - but will Kyle Abbott and Brad Wheal be bale to bat, having been off the field all day because of injury?

Gary Ballance finishes unbeaten on 101 from 86 balls faced.

WICKET Parkinson lbw b Norwell 3published at 17:02 British Summer Time 1 September 2021

    Lancashire 341 v Warwickshire 371

Lancashire's innings is over after last man Matt Parkinson is trapped LBW by Liam Norwell.

A tremendous performance from Norwell to finish with 6-57 and give his side a 30-run lead after the first innings.

There are 19 overs left so it will be interesting to see how both sides approach what remains of the third day.

  7. wicket

    Somerset 107 & 170-9 v Nottinghamshire 448

Marchant de Lange reaches Somerset's highest individual score of the match courtesy of some very agricultural hitting.

But his entertaining stay ends when he tries a huge heave off Liam Patterson-White and sends it skywards where Nottinghamshire captain Steven Mullaney moves round from slip to take the catch.

    One wicket to go.

  8. 100 runs

for Gary Ballancepublished at 16:58 British Summer Time 1 September 2021

    Hampshire 163 v Yorkshire 243 & 312-6

Gary Ballance paddles a short one from Keith Barker round the corner and there is his first Championship century of the season - and 41st in first-class cricket.

It's taken the left-hander only 85 balls and he has hit seven sixes and four fours. A perfect innings in the situation and Yorkshire lead by 392.

  9. wicket

WICKET Bohannon st Burgess b Briggs 170published at 16:56 British Summer Time 1 September 2021

    Lancashire 338-9 v Warwickshire 371

What a shame for Josh Bohannon.

Four runs shy of equalling his career-best score of 174, he charges down the wicket to Danny Briggs, the ball turns past his bat and Michael Burgess has his comprehensively stumped.

But he deservedly takes the applause of his team-mates on the balcony and the Lancashire supporters after hitting 20 fours and a six in his 334 balls at the crease.

  10. Latest from Divisions Two and Threepublished at 16:55 British Summer Time 1 September 2021

Derbyshire have been set 334 to win at Lord's, but Luis Reece has gone for nought, caught behind off Middlesex's Tim Murtagh.

Fynn Hudson-Prentice (40) and Dan Ibrahim (39) have added 74 for the sixth wicket and Sussex are 172-5, 223 ahead of Worcestershire at New Road.

    Hampshire 163 v Yorkshire 243 & 296-6

Dom Bess tries to pull a ball from Keith Barker, gloves through to the keeper and departs for a first-ball duck.

Not important in the overall scheme of things with Yorkshire 376 in front as Harry Duke comes to the crease.

  12. wicket

WICKET Thompson c Vince b Barker 33published at 16:47 British Summer Time 1 September 2021

    Hampshire 163 v Yorkshire 243 & 295-5

Jordan Thompson clears the rope at fine leg off James Vince as he and Gary Ballance bring up a 50 partnership in just 19 minutes.

Next over, Keith Barker sends down a full toss and Thompson flays the ball over mid-wicket for another maximum.

He attempts another big shot from the following delivery, but this one falls into the safe hands of Vince and Thompson departs for 33 from 22 balls.

  13. Yorkshire assault continuespublished at 16:39 British Summer Time 1 September 2021

    Hampshire 163 v Yorkshire 243 & 277-4

Caution has now well and truly been thrown to the wind by Yorkshire.

Gary Ballance clears his front leg and smashed James Vince away for his sixth six and Jordan Thompson carves a slower ball by Keith Barker for four at the start of the latest over.

Ballance is now 82 not out and Yorkshire are 357 ahead. When will skipper Steve Patterson call his batsmen in?

  14. wicket

WICKET Leach st Moores b Patterson-White 35published at 16:37 British Summer Time 1 September 2021

    Somerset 107 & 132-8 v Nottinghamshire 371

Jack Leach's entertaining cameo ends at 35. He tries to come down the wicket to fellow left-armer Liam Patterson-White and is beaten in the flight and Tom Moores does the rest to stump him.

An eighth dismissal in the match for Moores but the first of Somerset's 18 wickets to fall to spin. Not quite Ciderabad this week!

  15. Postpublished at 16:34 British Summer Time 1 September 2021

    Somerset 107 & 128-7 v Nottinghamshire 448

An end-of-term feel to proceedings about Somerset's batsmen since tea as they have released the shackles.

Jack Leach has raced to 31 to at least provide a bit of cheer to the watching home supporters.

  16. KENT BEAT LEICESTERSHIRE BY 132 RUNSpublished at 16:30 British Summer Time 1 September 2021

    Hampshire 163 v Yorkshire 243 & 253-4

Jordan Thompson hits three successive fours off Liam Dawson to take Yorkshire's total beyond 250.

The spinner has now conceded over 100 - but he is shouldering (literally) a heavier workload in the absence of Kyle Abbott and Brad Wheal because of injuries. The lead is 333.

    Lancashire 321-8 v Warwickshire 371

Danny Briggs strikes in the second over after tea as he has Tom Bailey taken smartly by Michael Burgess behind the stumps.

Some turn from the left-armer may interest Lancashire leg spinner Matt Parkinson.

  19. wicket

    Hampshire 163 v Yorkshire 243 & 236-4

James Vince takes a wicketImage source, Rex Features

James Vince claims his 23rd first-class wicket as Nick Gubbins takes a tumbling catch on the mid-wicket boundary to send Harry Brook on his way. Gary Ballance hit another six in the previous over off Liam Dawson and Yorkshire are definitely in declaration mode now, 316 to the good.
