  1. 'More determination and resolve'published at 13:30 British Summer Time 1 September 2021

    Somerset 107 & 35-1 v Nottinghamshire 448 - lunch

    Anthony Gibson
    BBC Somerset commentator

After the abject surrender of their last three first-innings wickets, and having been asked to follow on, Somerset are showing rather more determination and resolve second time around.

The two Toms, Lammonby and Abell, are keeping the Notts seamers at bay after the early loss of Steve Davies.

There's still a mountain a lot higher than Glastonbury Tor to be climbed if Somerset are to get out of this game with a draw, but they have made a decent start to the ascent.

It's an understatement to say Kent are rather keen to win their Division Three game against Leicestershire. Here's the field Darren Stevens was bowling to just before the lunch interval.

Josh Bohannon made his first-class debut batting under lights in a day/night Championship match at Surrey three years ago. Today he reached his third red-ball ton for Lancashire again under lights on a gloomy day in Manchester.

His career average is just a shade under 50, and going in at three for the last couple of seasons - he looks every bit a Division One batter.

Lancashire have enjoyed an excellent morning session, adding 115 runs for the loss of one wicket.

  5. for Matt Milnespublished at 13:10 British Summer Time 1 September 2021

    D3: Leicestershire 109 & 20-6 v Kent 232 & 262

    Matt MilnesImage source, Getty Images

Matt Milnes now has 5-8 for Kent - Lewis Hill was his latest victim, caught behind down the leg-side for five.

Leicestershire's target is a theoretical 386, but the only question arising from this match is how long it will take Kent to end it.

And remember, Kent were the only side who did not win a single game during the Championship's first phase.

  6. Lunch at the Ageas Bowlpublished at 13:04 British Summer Time 1 September 2021

    Hampshire 163 v Yorkshire 243 & 102-1

An excellent morning for Yorkshire, who have added 68 to their overnight 34-1 without losing a wicket.

Tom Kohler-Cadmore is 49 not out and George Hill has 43, but the Hampshire attack is minus injured Kyle Abbott and Brad Wheal.

The visitors lead by 182 and must now be contemplating what sort of target they wish to set Hampshire for the fourth innings.

  7. Lunch at Tauntonpublished at 13:03 British Summer Time 1 September 2021

    Somerset 107 & 35-1 v Nottinghamshire 448

Somerset have got to lunch with no further wickets down, but not without a few scares, especially for Tom Lammonby.

He has survived a catch at second slip by Brett Hutton which was deemed not to have carried and an LBW shout off Dane Paterson.

But with a deficit of 309 runs, it is going to take something spectacular to avoid an innings defeat.

For Nottinghamshire, it is a question of patience in their pursuit of wickets.

  8. Lunch at Old Traffordpublished at 13:01 British Summer Time 1 September 2021

    Lancashire 215-2 v Warwickshire 371

Very much Lancashire's morning in Manchester.

An unbroken century stand, in good time, from Josh Bohannon on 104 and captain Dane Vilas on 55, has pleased the watching spectators.

With only five overs to wait, Warwickshire will be hoping to make much-needed inroads after lunch with the new ball.

  9. Latest from Divisions Two and Threepublished at 12:51 British Summer Time 1 September 2021

Gloucestershire's Graeme van Buuren has reached a half-century against Northamptonshire, but his side trail by 174 on 153-8 in their first innings.

In Division Three, Kent have struck another blow at Leicester with Matt Milnes having Colin Ackermann caught in the slips for two. The home side are 9-3, chasing a remote target of 386.

Sussex are struggling in their second innings against Worcestershire and are now 19-3, a lead of 70 at New Road.

At Lord's, Middlesex are 99-4, with Max Holden 22 not out, and lead Derbyshire by 176.

  10. No joy yet for Hantspublished at 12:44 British Summer Time 1 September 2021

    Hampshire 163 v Yorkshire 243 & 89-1

    Liam DawsonImage source, Rex F

Hampshire's depleted attack are still striving for their first wicket of the morning session at the Ageas Bowl.

But it's pretty comfortable thus far for George Hill and Tom Kohler-Cadmore, who are content to wait for the odd loose ball to come long.

Liam Dawson has just completed a maiden to Hill, who is 41 not out, two more than his partner. The lead is 169.

  11. 50 runs

50 for Dane Vilaspublished at 12:43 British Summer Time 1 September 2021

    Lancashire 208-2 v Warwickshire 371

A huge six, again off Rob Yates, sees Lancashire skipper Dane Vilas reach his half-century.

Off only 65 balls, Vilas has brought good intent to the innings with the scoring rate this morning just over four an over, and the home side have picked up their first batting point.

In case you missed it, Essex beat Glamorgan by an innings and 74 runs earlier on in Division Two.

Here's what head coach Anthony McGrath had to say about it when he spoke to BBC Essex.

"We had a really good first two days and thankfully we got it wrapped up quickly, a really good way to start this block of four games and go into the Gloucestershire game.

"You can see by the performance that we're taking it as any other season, we want to finish top of the group we're in, since we don't know what's going to happen with the schedule for next year.

"We're disappointed not to be challenging in that first division but we've got to finish as high as we can and set out to win every game."

  13. Stevens strikes for Kentpublished at 12:38 British Summer Time 1 September 2021

    D3: Leicestershire 109 & 3-2 v Kent 232 & 262

He did his bit with the bat earlier on, and now Darren Stevens is tormenting Leicestershire with the ball. He has Hassan Azad lbw for a duck, and with Matt Milnes having sent back Sam Evans in similar fashion, the Foxes appear to be on a very slippery slope.

100 for Josh Bohannonpublished at 12:36 British Summer Time 1 September 2021

    Lancashire 198-2 v Warwickshire 371

    Josh BohannonImage source, Rex Features

A moment to celebrate for Josh Bohannon as he clips Will Rhodes off his pads to bring up a deserved hundred.

Coming off 201 balls and containing 14 fours and a big six off the part-time spin of Rob Yates, it's his second of the Championship.

Bohannon scored 127 not out against Yorkshire in May, but Red Rose supporters will hope he can go beyond that here.

  15. wicket

WICKET Davies c Moores b Fletcher 2published at 12:18 British Summer Time 1 September 2021

    Somerset 107 &10-1 v Nottinghamshire 448

Steven Davies doubles his first innings score, but Luke Fletcher has him for the second time in the match.

Fletcher tempts him outside off and with a hint of movement, Davies nibbles at it and Moores does the business behind the wicket.

Five wickets in the match for Fletcher, six catches for Moores and nine more wickets needed for victory.

    Hampshire 163 v Yorkshire 243 & 77-1

George Hill and Tom Kohler-CadmoreImage source, Rex Features

George Hill shows a delicate touch as he dabs Mason Crane down to third man for four. The Yorkshire opener is now 30 not out, with Tom Kohler-Cadmore on 38. Their partnership is worth 70 and the lead is 157.

  17. Postpublished at 12:14 British Summer Time 1 September 2021

    D3: Middlesex 282 & 45-3 v Derbyshire 205

We don't know whether Robbie White likes Shakespeare but the Middlesex batsman is now aware of the 'slings and arrows of outrageous fortune'.

Following his 120 in the first innings at Lord's, he has been caught behind off Ben Aitchison for a duck in the second.

  18. Postpublished at 12:06 British Summer Time 1 September 2021

    Lancashire 155-2 v Warwickshire 371

Lancashire captain Dane Vilas has brought some good positivity to the crease this morning since coming in for Luke Wells.

Josh Bohannon has moved to 80 as Lancashire have added 55 in the first hour, with them showing more intent, especially against the left-arm spin of Danny Briggs.

  19. Latest from Divisions Two and Threepublished at 12:04 British Summer Time 1 September 2021

Gloucestershire have lost their first wicket of the day against Northamptonshire - Zafar Gohar out for seven - and are 129-7, trailing by 198.

In Division Three, Worcestershire's Joe Leach took two wickets in successive balls and Sussex are 2-2 in their second innings, a lead of 53 at New Road. Leach's caught behind appeal against James Coles with the hat-trick ball was turned down.

Middlesex are 45-2 at Lord's and lead Derbyshire by 122, having bowled the visitors out for 205 earlier on.

There is no play currently at Leicester because of rain following Darren Stevens' 107 not out for Kent, who have set the home side a target of 386.

  20. Big man has the ball nowpublished at 12:01 British Summer Time 1 September 2021

    Somerset 107 & 0-0 v Nottinghamshire 448

After yesterday's heroics with bat and ball, Luke Fletcher has the new ball in hand. The leading wicket-taker in this season's Championship has opened with two maidens as Somerset find themselves in survival mode.

How they could do with the class of Azhar Ali. The Pakistan batsman missed this game by one day because of quarantine, but he will be available for their last three four-day games of the season.
