  1. Pears may face 'challenging chase'published at 16:14 British Summer Time 1 September 2021

    D3: Worcestershire 213 v Sussex 264 & 149-5 - tea

    Adrian Harms
    BBC Sussex commentator

Sussex lead by 200 which looked unlikely when they were reduced to 3-3 early in their second innings.

Alistair Orr, with his second half century of the match, steadied the Sussex ship, followed by an unbroken sixth-wicket partnership of 51 between Dan Ibrahim and Fynn Hudson Prentice.

Joe Leach and the left-arm spin of Josh Baker have taken the wickets between them, but the hosts will want quick wickets after tea as anything over 250 could be a challenging chase

Gary Ballance goes after a wide one from Liam Dawson in the first over after tea and two runs brings him a 58-ball fifty.

Six from the over and the Yorkshire lead is now over 300.

  3. 50 runs

for Ed Barnespublished at 16:09 British Summer Time 1 September 2021

    D3: Leicestershire 109 & 222-9 v Kent 232 & 262

Ed Barnes hits three fours in an over off Jack leaning and in the course of it reaches a 54-ball half-century, only the second of his career.

He has put on 61 for the last wicket with Will Davies (27) but Leicestershire are still 164 short of their target.

They can't, can they? Surely not.

  4. Tea at Old Traffordpublished at 16:01 British Summer Time 1 September 2021

    Lancashire 317-7 v Warwickshire 371

The most interesting session of the match at Old Trafford produces 102 runs and five wickets from the 33 overs.

Liam Norwell's five-wicket haul has got the visitors back into things after a low-key morning, but Josh Bohannon is a thorn in their side, unbeaten on 158 as Lancashire trail by 54.

As things stand, the teams are level on 4 bonus points apiece and that feels about right with a draw increasingly becoming the favoured result.

  5. Tea at Tauntonpublished at 15:57 British Summer Time 1 September 2021

    Somerset 107 & 98-7 v Nottinghamshire 448

This is surely going to be the last break during play of this match with Nottinghamshire three wickets away from a huge win.

Somerset have lost six wickets since lunch and Dane Paterson has taken four of them in an impressive spell.

The gap is 243 runs and the only question is what time the Notts bus can start the journey back up the M5!
