  2. wicket

Durham bowled out for 131published at 16:38 British Summer Time 22 September 2021

    Durham 140 & 131, Gloucestershire 218

Gloucestershire have bowled out Durham cheaply for a second time.

And, with 15 overs left tonight, that has set the hosts 54 to become the second Division Two side to complete victory inside two days - following Essex's earlier demolition of sorry Northants.

  3. Lead into three figurespublished at 16:35 British Summer Time 22 September 2021

    Lancashire 141 v Hampshire 143 & 104-5

Hampshire have brought up their 100 and the lead is now 106. James Vince has chanced his arm a couple of times since tea but the boundaries have been very valuable.

Vince's 45 not out is the best in the match - a real captain's knock.

  4. Plenty to ponderpublished at 16:26 British Summer Time 22 September 2021

The final session is now under way at Aigburth.

That partnership of 54 between Joe Weatherley and James Vince has tilted this topsy-turvy game back in Hampshire's direction.

Lancashire captain Dane Vilas will want the last five wickets out cheaply because anything over 100 will be a tall order in the final innings.

  5. wicket

Azhar Ali c Rhodes b Bresnan 60published at 16:17 British Summer Time 22 September 2021

    Warwickshire 367, Somerset 167-4

A fourth wicket for the Bears as old warhorse Tim Bresnan, one of Warwickshire's big heroes at Headingley last week, finds Azhar Ali's edge.

Former Worcestershire wicketkeeper Steven Davies comes out to join Lewis Goldsworthy.

In the 52nd over, the Bears are now just two wickets away from the second of those precious bowling points they need.

Will they get all three before close of play tonight?

  6. 50 runs

    Azhar Ali's half-centurypublished at 16:17 British Summer Time 22 September 2021

    Warwickshire 367, Somerset 163-3

Azhar Ali has taken almost three hours to get there but he has reached his second half-century for Somerset in successive innings.

England's Chris Woakes is back on as the Bears aim to speed up their wicket-taking rate.

  7. ouch!

Tom Lace twice hit at short legpublished at 16:11 British Summer Time 22 September 2021

    Durham 140 & 108-8, Gloucestershire 218

    Martin Emmerson
    BBC Radio Newcastle

Tom Lace has been in the wars at short leg. A pull shot from Durham's Liam Trevaskis hit him on the knee and hurt. A lot. He needed treatment.

A few deliveries later he was then felled by a shot from Trevaskis which struck him in the centre of the helmet and the physio was soon in action again. After receiving treatment he decided to stay on the field.

But, as play resumed, Trevaskis had morphed into Matty Potts. A lookback at the replay revealed that the ball had ricocheted off the helmet and into the gloves of keeper James Bracey to give spinner Zafar Khan his 11th wicket of the match.

Durham have now reached 100 in their second innings but are eight down and only lead by 22.

  8. Sussex rally from 46-4 at sunny Hovepublished at 16:04 British Summer Time 22 September 2021

    Derbyshire 465, Sussex 148-4

    Adrian Harms
    BBC Sussex

A good fightback from Sussex with a century partnership between Ben Brown and Ollie Carter steering Sussex away from the abyss of 46-4.

Derbyshire, who are still searching for their win of the season have bowled tidily.

Ben Aitchison has been the stand out performer, taking three of the wickets to fall.

  9. Tea at Aigburthpublished at 16:01 British Summer Time 22 September 2021

    Lancashire 141 v Hampshire 143 & 84-5

Hampshire lead by 86 at the tea interval in Liverpool.

Skipper James Vince looks to be the key man, on 36.

  10. Bears offering free entry at Edbgastonpublished at 15:56 British Summer Time 22 September 2021

    Warwickshire 367, Somerset 147-3

Warwickshire, on the verge of winning their first County Championship in nine years, are hoping to get a few more bums on seats in Brum to see it.

They have now generously offered free entry for the final two days.

As for today, they're back underway after tea at Edgbaston - and Somerset have edged on to 147-3.

  11. wicket

    Weatherley b Bailey 33published at 15:50 British Summer Time 22 September 2021

    Hampshire 143 & 78-5, Lancashire 141

Big wicket for Lancashire just before tea. Tom Bailey gets one through and Joe Weatherley is gone for 33.

It's Bailey's fourth wicket. But, given what has gone before in this game, Hampshire now lead by 80 thanks to that 54-run stand between Weatherley and James Vince, who is still there on 30.

  12. Middlesex moving aheadpublished at 15:48 British Summer Time 22 September 2021

    Middlesex 147 & 185-2, Kent 138

    Kevin Hand
    BBC Radio London

Middlesex are moving into an extremely strong position in the battle for Division Three at Canterbury but batting does appear to have eased.

Mark Stoneman has his second fifty of the match and is on the verge of a second fifty in his fourth match for the visitors since his move from Surrey.

Robbie White, who batted for 163 minutes in the first innings of 147, is again providing able support at the other end but just whether day two is proving the best to bat on remains to be seen.

Kent have seen Darren Stevens leave the field with an ankle problem - he took four in the first innings before removing Sam Robson. There's no doubt the seam and swing that dominated the first four sessions of the match appears less prevalent now.

  13. Tea at Edgbastonpublished at 15:36 British Summer Time 22 September 2021

    Warwickshire 367, Somerset 139-3

Somerset go to tea with Azhar Ali on 37 and Lewis Goldsworthy on 5.

  14. Cooke hits career-bestpublished at 15:35 British Summer Time 22 September 2021

    Glamorgan 611-5 v Surrey

    Nick Webb
    BBC Radio Wales

Glamorgan captain Chris Cooke has now made his career-best score, having reached 186 not out against Surrey as Glamorgan go in at tea on 611-5 at The Oval.

That beats his previous top score of 171.

Cooke dominated a sixth-wicket stand of 182 with Dan Douthwaite (56 not out) as Glamorgan ground on remorselessly and eventually stepped up their run-rate in the second half of the afternoon session.

It has been a batsman’s paradise so far as Glamorgan reached the sixth highest total in their history, with Surrey hanging on grimly to their chances of salvaging something from the game.

  15. Tea at Trent Bridgepublished at 15:32 British Summer Time 22 September 2021

    Nottinghamshire 296 v Yorkshire 73 & 79-1

Things have calmed down a bit this afternoon after a frantic morning session.

Yorkshire have gone past their feeble first innings' effort in the afternoon sun with Adam Lyth unbeaten on 33 and Tom Kohler-Cadmore on nine.

Nottinghamshire lead by 144, and are well ahead, but it has been much harder work over the last 90 minutes or so.

  16. Somerset batting on the mend?published at 15:31 British Summer Time 22 September 2021

    Warwickshire 367, Somerset 138-3

Since the restart following the County Championship's mid-season break, Somerset's batting has been a massive disappointment.

First-innings totals of 107 (against Notts), 134 (against Yorkshire) and 90 (against Lancashire) have added up to two innings defeats and another by the only slightly less dispiriting margin of 10 wickets.

They did at least make 314 in the second innings of the game against Lancashire, thank to Tom Lammonby's 100 and 50 from Azhar Ali.

And, in pressurised circumstances, with so much riding on this game, this has so far been a better effort.

This is now their highest first-innings total - in their fourth and last Division One game. And they have also batted 44 overs so far.

In their three previous matches, they lasted 38.5 overs, 42 overs and 38.2 overs respectively.

  17. Warwickshire inching forwardpublished at 15:22 British Summer Time 22 September 2021

    Warwickshire 367, Somerset 134-3

    Clive Eakin
    BBC CWR Sport

When Danny Briggs hit the six which gave Warwickshire their crucial fourth batting point this morning there were cheers from the crowd but no celebration from the batter.

That reflected the knowledge that the County Championship title is far from won - and it's no easy task bowling a team out twice on a pitch which gets more benign as the day goes on.

The Bears are having to be patient but so far are getting just enough success to keep them encouraged.

  18. Vince holds the keypublished at 15:22 British Summer Time 22 September 2021

    Lancashire 141 v Hampshire 143 & 52-4

Hampshire captain James Vince has joined Joe Weatherley at the crease and this pair have brought up the 50 for the innings.

Vince has scored 18 at almost a run-a-ball to steady the ship. Lancashire know the price of his wicket and it's why Danny Lamb had his head down when a ball almost carried for a return catch.

The lead is 54 and if Vince sticks around, his team's chances will greatly increase.

  19. wicket

    Abell c Burgess b Norwell 14published at 15:12 British Summer Time 22 September 2021

    Warwickshire 367, Somerset 132-3

Another wicket tor Warwickshire as the Bears begin to make proper inroads into the Somerset top order.

After a 28-run stand with Azhar Ali, Somerset skipper Tom Abell is caught behind off Liam Norwell.

The new man in is 20-year-old Lewis Goldsworthy, part of Saturday night's beaten T20 final team, who is yet to make a fifty in the County Championship.

Still eight overs to go until tea. Another scalp for the Bears before they bring out the cucumber sandwiches, fruitcake and cream horns would be nice.

  20. wicket

WICKET Hill run out (sub Harrison) 34published at 15:10 British Summer Time 22 September 2021

    Nottinghamshire 296 v Yorkshire 73 & 65-1

What a way to lose their first wicket after grafting for more than 20 overs.

Adam Lyth and George Hill try to pinch a quick single but sub fielder Calvin Harrison swoops and throws down the stumps with Hill short of his ground.

A sub fielder provoking a run-out at Trent Bridge... Anyone thinking of Gary Pratt in 2005?
