    Lancashire 57-8 v Warwickshire

The lunches at Lord's are legendary but whatever is on the menu today, I'm not sure it will taste that good to anyone of a Lancashire persuasion.

Tim Bresnan ends the morning with a maiden as Warwickshire finish a session that must have been beyond their wildest dreams.

Incredibly tough out there for Lancashire, the ball is still doing quite a lot. One thing is certain, Jack Blatherwick and Matt Parkinson wouldn't have been expecting to have their pads on this morning."

    The procession resumes!

Tom Bailey is giving a searching examination by Manraj Johal and when the youngster gets a full back to come back in off a length, Bailey is trapped in front.

Thank goodness for the rain or this innings could have been over by lunch!

  4. The perils of September at Lord'spublished at 12:27 British Summer Time 28 September 2021

Clive Eakin on BBC Radio 5 Live Sports Extra has been talking about the days of NatWest Trophy Finals at Lord's and the perils of batting first at 10.30am.

Many of those finals saw the team bowling first go on to win comfortably and we could be heading for that conclusion to this match.

  5. Manraj on the moneypublished at 12:22 British Summer Time 28 September 2021

    Lancashire v Warwickshire 57-7

An excellent over from young Manraj Johal. He beats Tom Bailey a couple of times outside off-stump and then from the final ball, he gets one to lift and hits Bailey on the glove.

If Lancashire's morning could get any worse, it would be seeing their premier seam bowler injured and unable to bowl.

A second four of the over, a second down the ground, and Wood races to 31 off 24 balls. He may be entitled to ask a few questions of his team-mates sat up in the pavilion.

The sun is out at Lord's and we're ready to resume!

And Luke Wood greets Tim Bresnan with a glorious straight drive for four to bring up the 50. That was looking dodgy at 12-6!!!!

  8. Timely time-out for Lancashirepublished at 12:06 British Summer Time 28 September 2021

    Lancashire 47-7 v Warwickshire

A timely rain break for Lancashire as they reflect on an ugly morning in St John's Wood.

They have at least passed their lowest-ever score - 25 v Derbyshire at Old Trafford in 1871.

    And their lowest-ever at Lord's - 49 against the MCC in 1880.

But they still have to get past their lowest score against Warwickshire - 70 at Old Trafford in 1955.

Merciful relief at Lord's for Lancashire as it starts to rain - and the players leave the field.

Commentator Scott Read says that the clouds overhead are looking a bit threatening - "it's rather grim", he said - and that this may be an extended break.

Certainly it would be no surprise if they now took an early lunch.

The covers are now coming out.

Manraj Johal takes his first wicket for Warwickshire in red-ball cricket.

It wasn't a great delivery, short of a length, but Josh Bohannon obligingly pulls it to Dom Sibley at mid-wicket.

The Lancashire 'revival', having been 12-6, is ended.

Tim Bresnan is into the attack for Warwickshire. It's a tidy first over, yielding only two runs to Luke Wood, who is 21 not out, with Josh Bohannon on 15.

Best shot of the morning so far? Manraj Johal begins his second over and Josh Bohannon greets him with a glorious drive through mid-off for four.

Nothing wrong with the other five deliveries from the 19-year-old, but Lancashire have at least halted the flow of wickets for a bit.

For once, Craig Miles errs in line and Luke Wood whips the ball away for four runs.

The former Notts all-rounder carves the final delivery in the over through backward point - and is 19 not out, with Josh Bohannon on 11.

A big moment for Manraj Johal, who comes on as first change for Warwickshire, replacing Liam Norwell.

Johal, who will be 20 in two weeks, plays club cricket for West Bromwich Dartmouth and has appeared at National Counties level for Staffordshire.

His first delivery is edged by Luke Wood, but it touches the turf short of the slips and the left-hander finds the boundary from the next delivery.

Both batsmen into double figures now.

Excellent timing by Josh Bohannon and he picks up four runs through mid-wicket off Craig Miles - and Lancashire go past their lowest score in first-class cricket (25 - see 11:24 entry). Eleven overs gone at Lord's.

A thick edge down to third man brings Luke Wood a boundary to start his innings. Has he ever come out to bat with the score 12-6? Unlikely.

Was that a chance at short leg? Matt Lamb is unable to take the ball cleanly and Josh Bohannon survives.

Liam Norwell has 2-9 from six overs.

In case you're already wondering, Lancashire's lowest total in first-class cricket is 25 all out against Derbyshire at Old Trafford in 1871.

Their lowest against Warwickshire is 70 in 1955 - and that seems an awful long way away at the moment, despite Josh Bohannon clipping the ball away for a boundary in the 10th over.
