Josh Bohannon was Lancashire's top scorer in this summer's County Championship - including a hundred against Warwickshire - and they are going to need some runs from him now.

    Well, well, well.

Two wickets in successive overs for Warwickshire as Alex Davies tries to work the ball to leg but the ball takes the leading edge and lobs into the air where short leg would be fielding - if there was one.

Warwickshire beat Somerset to win the County ChampionshipImage source, PA Media

There was some incredible cricket in the final two rounds of the County Championship.

Four teams were still in with a chance of the title ahead of the last round of games - Hampshire, Warwickshire, Lancashire and Nottinghamshire.

Lancashire knocked Hampshire out of the equation with a thrilling three-day win at Aigburth, which also meant Notts could not finish top of Division One despite beating Yorkshire.

Warwickshire went into the last day against Somerset knowing only a victory would be enough and they duly beat Somerset by 118 runs to become champions - but will they add the Bob Willis Trophy, or will Lancashire pick up a nice consolation prize?

  18. What is the Bob Willis Trophy?published at 10:20 British Summer Time 28 September 2021

The Bob Willis Trophy, named after the late former England fast bowler and captain, was created last summer when the pandemic meant it was impossible to stage a full County Championship programme.

A regionalised tournament in 2020 led to Essex and Somerset contesting the final at Lord's and although the match was drawn, Essex lifted the trophy by virtue of their higher first innings total.

Although the Championship returned this summer, the ECB decided not to mothball the trophy and instead decided to stage a season-ending five-day game between the champions and runners-up.

That's why Warwickshire and Lancashire are at Lord's this week.
