There does feel a confusion at the moment.

That all comes from India. It is something to do with the rotation and not quite knowing who your settled side is. You want to know where your mate is changing, who your batting partner is, who your bowling partner is. And the whole feeling of rotation has perhaps caught up with England.

  3. NZ 16-1published at 5 overs

    Target 38

Will Young almost nicks off as he plays at James Anderson's final ball of the over.

The crowd appeal, no-one else does.

It is England's lowest score against New Zealand in a home Test.

It is the ninth time they have been bowled out by New Zealand for less than 200 at home. Five of those came in the 1999 four-Test series. That was the last time New Zealand beat England in this country.

James Bracey averages 36.26 in first-class cricket. He's only 24 but he has a lot of improvement to make before he's a Test number three.

And he's the fourth best wicketkeeper behind Ben Foakes, Jonny Bairstow and Jos Buttler.

The wicket off the first ball sort of exposed the confusion at the heart of everything that is happening with English cricket at the moment.

James Bracey batting at seven, and keeping wicket, when he's a number three for example.

  7. NZ 15-1published at 4 overs

    Latham 4, Young 3

Stuart Broad bowls a tidy maiden over to Will Young.

At least Stuart Broad has got a wicket for his efforts.

It has been quite an amazing start to the day.

James: England have thrown the last 3-4 Test matches though a combination of terrible selection and resting players. Silverwood already proved to be out of his depth. Disrespectful to the fans and the game.

  14. NZ 12-1published at 2.4 overs

Didn't work that time. Young leaves it alone outside off.

Will Young is brilliant. Tremendous. Superb.

He now faces his first ball..

  17. NZ 12-1published at 2.3 overs

    Target 38

Cries of catch it as Tom Latham chases one down leg.

But that flicked the pad and a disgruntled James Anderson concedes four leg byes.

Ah. Anderson then concedes a no ball as Latham picks up a single too.
