After a couple of nice cover drives from Bairstow in that first over, he's gone a lot more agricultural here.

Jonny Bairstow thumps the first boundary with a clubbing shot down the ground.

There's a bit of swing and bounce out there, Sri Lanka have started with good control and it's looking tough for England's openers.

Malan's come through for the quick single and he's been completely shoulder-barged by the bowler! Thankfully they are both fine but Malan seems to be having a hard time from everyone at the moment!
Bairstow 5, Malan 1
It's another quiet over apart from the rough and tumble.
Woah! Is this T20 or the NFL?! Fernando has shoulder barged Dawid Malan as the England batter ran for a tight single. Both men end up flat on the floor with Malan sprawling to make his ground.
There are three games in the T20 Blast going on today for you to follow - Birmingham Bears are taking on a Durham side featuring Ben Stokes which has just started.
At 15:00 BST Notts take on Lancashire and then an evening fixture, Yorkshire v Northants, at 18:30.
You can listen to live commentary of those games here.
Bounding left-armer Binura Fernando is sharing the new ball. He bowled Bairstow for a duck on Thursday night.

Raphael: Moeen is hit and miss, but when he hits, he hits. I don't understand him coming in at 6. Number 3 is clearly his strongest suit and he's a better No 3 than Livingstone, and he should be coming in before Billings.
CJ: It's a good XI. I expect Liam Livingstone to become a mainstay in the side. Not only will he score runs at a decent lick batting anywhere in the top five; if pace-off is what the doctor ordered in the field, he can bowl 2-3 overs alongside Rashid & Moeen.
I like Chameera. He looks a good, fun bowler. Plenty of pace and seems to always put plenty of effort in. He beats Bairstow a couple more times outside off with a couple of singles also added.

There hasn't been the same energy that we saw from Sri Lanka in the field in Cardiff. They look a bit stiff, a bit flat.
Jonny Bairstow gets off the mark with a well-run single which is appreciated with a smattering of applause from this depleted crowd.
Dushmantha Chameera, sun scream smeared across his cheeks, begins proceedings with a pacy ball outside off stump.

I don't know why we haven't seen Lakshan Sandakan in this series so far. He's got good variations, he's an attacking option with his wrist-spin and every time he plays he takes wickets. Wickets in the middle overs are crucial in T20 and he does that.
Here comes Malan, following Bairstow down the steps from the dressing room. We're ready to go.

You could argue that Liam Livingstone deserves a go opening, given that he opens for Lancashire and pretty much all his franchises, but so does Dawid Malan. There is a case for both, but I think this is the right choice.
This is Moeen's first T20 for England since September last year. It's his first England game full stop since India in March.

It's great to see Moeen back - it's been a long time without him in this T20 side. I can't wait to see him play and I'm sure he'll perform very well.
Having spent a week watching a lot of rain fall at the World Test Championship, I am slightly surprised to tell you the weather looks set to be great for this game in Southampton.
There shouldn't be any interruptions like we had on Thursday.
More from England captain Eoin Morgan: "Dawid Malan's form only had one way to go. There are no concerns there whatsoever, he is a top player and hopefully he continues throughout the summer as he has in an England shirt so far.
"Liam Livingstone shows the strength and depth that we have in the squad. He has performed for four, five or six years and been outstanding his county so has gained experience here and in franchise cricket."
