I don't think England will tinker with their batting order but selfishly I'd love to see Moeen Ali get a bat!

Bit of a mistake from Bairstow, but he's set England up very nicely. It was a good ball from Udana, very full and just angled in from the left-armer.

    Bairstow b Udana 51 (Eng 105-1)

Jonny Bairstow's fun is over and it looks like he has just missed a full, straight ball from Udana. I don't think it has swung. Bairstow looks puzzled. I am too. That came out of nowhere.

  4. Eng 102-0published at 11.1 overs

Shot! Dawid Malan plays one late and guides a perfectly decent ball from Udana down to the boundary. England have so many options at the top of the order.

A very tidy over from Sandakan. That gives Sri Lanka a little breather amongst all the carnage.

  6. Eng 98-0published at 11 overs

    Bairstow 51, Malan 38

Dawid Malan whacks his bat off his pad, I think annoyed that he hasn't put away another short ball. Impressed with what you have seen from England?

  8. Eng 97-0published at 10.2 overs

This is dominant from England. Malan isn't even middling them but still finding the boundaries.

  9. Dunkley to make England ODI debutpublished at 15:18 British Summer Time 26 June 2021

England women get their one-day series agianst India under way on Sunday - and Sophia Dunkley will make her ODI debut for the hosts.

The 22-year-old batter made an unbeaten 74 on Test debut against India last week and is the fifth highest run-scorer in this season's Rachael Heyhoe Flint trophy.

The sides will play three ODIs followed by three Twenty20s, all of which are worth two points each.

England and India have two points each after the Test at Bristol was drawn.

This is looking ominous for Sri Lanka with these two openers really getting going now.

  11. 50 runs

50 for Bairstowpublished at 10 overs

He's special this lad. Never forget it. Jonny Bairstow creams a drive through wide mid-off. It brings him four runs and another white-ball fifty.

    England are eyeing 200.

  12. 6 runs

    Eng 87-0published at 9.1 overs

Six more to Bairstow - again with a hint of fortune. He thwacks it out to Hasaranga on the boundary who attempts to take the catch, throw it up, step over the rope and in again, but he can't quite get his feet right. I guess it's a dropped chance but a very difficult one.

  13. Eng 81-0published at 9 overs

    Bairstow 37, Malan 33

Brilliant, brilliant batting. Malan is hitting this ball to all corners of the Ageas Bowl. He follows the reverse sweep and the slog sweep with a perfectly timed, lofted extra cover drive.

Malan has almost caught Bairstow now.

  14. 6 runs

    Eng 75-0published at 8.5 overs

Just! Dawid Malan gets a bit more air on a sweep than intended and it clears deep square-leg... just.

I think the acceleration is coming!

  16. Eng 68-0published at 8.3 overs

Malan, finally on strike, gets out the reverse sweep and places it to perfection, splitting the gap between two fielders. Four more!

But it does look like one of those pitches that is difficult for new batters to get in, so they might not want to throw any wickets away quickly.

It's been a quiet couple of overs for England, I wouldn't be surprised if he see a bit of an acceleration here.

  19. Eng 62-0published at 8 overs

    Bairstow 35, Malan 18

Bairstow has faced more than twice as many deliveries as Dawid Malan and keeps the strike at the end of this over too.

Malan might still be thinking about this...

  20. Eng 57-0published at 7.3 overs

Jonny Bairstow gets fortunate, swiping at a ball from Sandakan. The ball takes his edge but loops over short third man.
