There's generally been a sort of expectant hush around the ground at a half-full Trent Bridge, aside that is from the usual audible but indecipherable lone cries of encouragement.

But even a hushed crowd is a rather pleasant sound - the sort of murmur that has been lost to the game of cricket for much of the last two seasons behind closed doors - and certainly hasn't been heard amongst the din of the last few noisy weeks of Hundreds and Test matches.

In this case, the murmuring is no doubt along the lines that Glamorgan don't have enough here. Kiran Carlson did his bit, and it was fun while it lasted. But they will do very well to reach 300. And that looked a bare minimum on a track like this.

So now Glamorgan are seriously underpowered heading into the final five.

    They'd love 280 from here.

What was that?! What sort of dismissal is that?!

It must have been a well-disguised slower ball from Ben Raine that stuck in the pitch at no more than 45mph.

It's a very strange dismissal after another promising innings for Glamorgan.

    It's happened again.

Durham have snuffed out a threat when damage was imminent.

A slower ball from Ben Raine forces a top-edge from Andrew Salter as he looks to pump it down the ground.

It goes straight up and a simple catch for Cameron Bancroft walking up from behind the stumps.

Good news. Scott Borthwick is quickly back on the field with his fingers strapped.

Ben Raine is back into the attack.

Much rests with Andrew Salter now in the pursuit of 300.

But he'll obviously have in mind what's to come.

Nice cheap set from Liam Trevaskis and you sense again that Durham are back on top.

That looks a very emotional face Luke Doneathy is pulling there after taking the catch.

That took a huge amount of energy and composure to hang on under the high ball and under pressure after also having to come and bowl at short-notice for his captain.

Tom Cullen trying to swing one down the ground but skies it up.

Luke Doneathy calls immediately and takes a really good catch running away towards midwicket.

Yet again, Durham snuff out a promising stand.

Andrew Salter had swung one over deep midwicket earlier in the over.

    Ouch.

Scott Borthwick opens the over with a full toss that's slammed back at him and done some damage to his left hand.

He walks off the ground straight away.

Luke Doneathy will complete the over.

There's a bit of momentum from those last two overs for Glamorgan which hopefully will give them a bit of confidence with eight to go.

If someone gets going, 300 won't be that far off.

    Tom Cullen now busy.

He twice comes down the pitch, nudges leg side and darts back for two between long-on and deep midwicket.

Andrew Salter then slaps a boundary straight back over the bowler's head.

    Glamorgan 218-6 (41 overs) v Durham

    Nick Webb
BBC Radio Wales at Trent Bridge

After the brilliance of Kiran Carlson, it’s been a struggle for Glamorgan to capitalise on their captain’s work and head towards a competitive total.

Carlson played the limited-overs innings of his life with some beautiful clean striking in his 82 off 59 balls, but became the third victim of Matty Potts’ second spell.

Joe Cooke gave a brief glimpse of his recent striking power with a run-a-ball 29 but the Welsh side didn’t have enough wickets left to cut loose heading into the last 10 overs.

With the power of Durham’s top order, Glamorgan will have to pull out a fine bowling performance.

Could Andrew Salter be the man?

Off-speed delivery from Ben Raine and Salter sees it, waits, waits and whacks it past extra-cover for four.

Then a lucky top-edge to third man for a couple.

Last 10 then and Ben Raine back.

280 is gettable from here but Glamorgan need someone to get going.

Really nice sweep for four from Andrew Salter.

Extends his arms and times it very well.

Necessary in an over otherwise of dots.

I imagine they'll be wanting a few more runs on the board in these closing overs.

    It's a soft dismissal that.

But it's a huge wicket for Durham and Joe Cooke has dragged the drag-down straight to the hands of deep square leg.

He'll be very disappointed with that especially after they were building a promising partnership.

    Oh it's a shocker.

A drag down from Scott Borthwick, Joe Cooke is back to try and heave it over the leg side but only picks out Matty Potts at deep square.

Bonus for Durham and a huge blow to Glamorgan's hopes of reaching 300.

It was only a matter of time before Joe Cooke targeted that short boundary.

He might not have hit it far, but he hit it long enough.

The length and the line there will disappoint Liam Trevaskis.
