    It's a third T20 Blast half-century for Rob Keogh, who's got to 51 runs off 42 balls.

The 29-year-old has kept the Northants innings together after a horrid start for the visitors.

We're at the business end. Lancashire will still be relatively happy.

The covers remain on at Trent Bridge.

It's still raining lightly but it's brightening up and the umpires are coming out for a look at the pitch.

    Fingers crossed.

Lancashire Lightning v Northamptonshire Steelbacks 116-4 (15 overs)

Rob Keogh is motoring for Northants, on 44 off 37 balls after a massive slog sweep for six.

Saif Zaib is at the other end after Mohammad Nabi was dismissed lbw for 27.

Lancashire have lost control of this a bit.

  6. Postpublished at 19:28 British Summer Time 9 July 2021

    Birmingham Bears 48-2 (6 overs) v Worcestershire Rapids 174-6 (20 overs)

More good bowling from Chris Morris has picked up the second Birmingham wicket at New Road before the end of the powerplay.

He cleans out Will Rhodes' stumps, as the Rapids batsman departs for 11.

Morris has figures of 2-9 from his first two overs.

The hosts were 64-0 at the same stage.

  8. Postpublished at 19:22 British Summer Time 9 July 2021

    Essex 47-1 (6 overs) v Sussex

  9. Postpublished at 19:18 British Summer Time 9 July 2021

Lancashire Lightning v Northamptonshire Steelbacks 89-3 (12 overs)

Rob Keogh (26 not out) and Mohammad Nabi (25 not out) have passed the 50 partnership for Northants' fourth wicket.

Nabi strikes the first six of the innings over long-off and looks in a potentially mischievous mood after taking his time to get in.

The runs are starting to flow a bit easier now.

  10. wicket

WICKET Burns c Klassen b Stevens 19published at 19:17 British Summer Time 9 July 2021

    Surrey 59-5 (11.5 overs) v Kent

Debutant Tim David was starting to get in the mood, hitting a couple of huge sixes.

But his innings becomes a cameo as Ben Cox takes a stunning catch at long on to dismiss the Singapore international for 20.

The batsmen crossed, and then Darren Stevens sees Rory Burns caught by Fred Klassen at short third man.

Surrey are in deep trouble and the old stager is now on a hat-trick...

We're at the midway point of the Northants innings and Lancashire remain on top.

Rob Keogh (20 not out) and Mohammad Nabi (15 not out) have steadied things for the visitors and could be key to them building a decent score.

The Steelbacks will want to get to at least 140-150 to make Lightning think about things.

  12. Morris checks Bears progresspublished at 19:11 British Summer Time 9 July 2021

    Birmingham Bears 20-1 (2.1 overs) v Worcestershire Rapids 174-6 (20 overs)

Birmingham have made a good start to their chase, but then Chris Morris breaks the opening stand with his first ball.

He bowls Adam Hose for 9.

Will Rhodes comes to join Ed Pollock in the middle.

  13. Postpublished at 19:07 British Summer Time 9 July 2021

    Surrey 42-3 (10 overs) v Kent

Extraordinary inning unfolding at the Kia Oval.

Surrey get their first boundary in the 10th over of the game, a Rory Burns misses a Jack Leaning ball which runs away for four byes.

Then Burns reverse sweeps for four runs off the bat.

And the England man repeats the trick straight away!

That makes the score a bit more respectable - but it's been a very poor start.

  14. Hampshire lose an early wicketpublished at 19:07 British Summer Time 9 July 2021

    Hampshire 5-1 (1.4 overs) v Somerset

D'Arcy Short tries to go for a big hit into the legside off Jack Brooks early in Hampshire's innings, but can only pick out a fielder on the rope.

Will Smeed is the man with safe hands for Somerset.

  16. Bears start chasepublished at 19:01 British Summer Time 9 July 2021

Birmingham Bears v Worcestershire Rapids 174-6 (20 overs)

Birmingham are getting going with their reply at New Road.

The Bears require 175 to secure a sixth win of the group stage and keep their hopes of a quarter-final berth alive.

Ed Pollock and Adam Hose are opening the batting, with Ben Dwarshuis handed the ball.

  17. Clark gifts his wicket after promising startpublished at 19:00 British Summer Time 9 July 2021

    Durham 40-2 (3.3 overs) v Derbyshire

Graham Clark finds the boundary a few times to get Durham motoring along, but then rather tamely gets himself caught at mid-on after making 26 from 10 balls.

Durham's hopes of making quick runs in the powerplay just reined in a touch.

  18. Postpublished at 18:59 British Summer Time 9 July 2021

Notts Outlaws v Yorkshire Vikings (start delayed by rain)

There's no imminent prospect of play at Trent Bridge, with rain still falling.

At best it looks like we'll get a shortened match, which is a shame for a highly-anticipated top of the table match.

  19. Postpublished at 18:57 British Summer Time 9 July 2021

Lancashire Lightning v Northamptonshire Steelbacks 42-3 (6 overs)

After a torrid first couple overs, Northants skipper Josh Cobb was starting to look good with three boundaries and some inventive shots.

But he picks out backward square-leg for another soft Steelbacks dismissal as he departs for 20 off 17 balls.

All in all it's a successful powerplay for Lancashire, with Steven Croft, Tom Hartley and Liam Hurt all amongst the wickets.

  20. Eagles eye victory at Sharkspublished at 18:56 British Summer Time 9 July 2021

Sussex Sharks v Essex Eagles (19:00 BST)

    HarmerImage source, Rex Features

Sussex began the day in the fourth qualifying spot in the South Group, but were shunted down to fifth after Gloucestershire beat Middlesex this afternoon.

The Sharks' hopes of progressing to the quarter-finals were stung by five consecutive wash-outs last month.

There's surely no danger of that this evening, with Hove bathed in sunshine this afternoon.

Sussex, who welcome back Chris Jordan, Ollie Robinson and Delray Rawlins, will bowl after winning the toss.

Essex, champions in 2019, have won four of their past five and could do with victory to stay in the hunt for a quarter-final berth.
