Too close to call?! That's a new one! I like it.
Spirit 52-2
There was no spike but the TV umpire confirms "it was too close to call" - meaning the ball was only just clipping the bails and so the advantage goes with the batter.
The TV umpire is still waiting for the UltraEdge technology, which detects whether the bat hit the bat by showing spikes of the soundwaves.

It looked pretty straight from here.
Spirit 52-2
New batter Deepti Sharma's stay at the crease may be a short one as she's trapped on the pads by Erin Burns. The umpire gives it not out but Phoenix review straight away. They're convinced. If it hasn't hit the bat first then this will be close.

It was a good catch from Verma, jumping up to her right. She's got a lot to learn in the fielding department because she's so young but she plucked that one from the air.
Dattani c Verma b Burns 34 (Spirit 51-2)
Gone as Erin Burns strikes! It's one swing too many from Naomi Dattani as she makes some room and finds Shafali Verma inside the circle.
We're already seeing just how important spin is in this format of cricket.

London Spirit's running between the wickets has been superb so far.

Erin Burns keeps her cap on to bowl. Maybe it's just to keep her hair in place.
We've had some glorious sunshine in the first two Hundred match days, it's not as bright in Edgbaston today but still reasonably hot.
Australia's Erin Burns bowls her off-spinners while still wearing a baseball cap. Dattani takes a few steps down the pitch and chips back past the bowler and there's a good stop by Arlott by the boundary.

Spirit need 82 more runs to win
Georgia Elwiss is brought into the bowling attack as Knight takes an easy single, but a throw from the fielder ricochets off the stumps and allows the batters to run for two more.

Carnage at Edgbaston!
Naomi Dattani, stop it!! Having hit three consecutive fours, she hammers Arlott for a six through the leg side. That made a crisp sound off the bat and is the shot of the match.
18 runs from the last four balls.
Make that three boundaries in a row from Naomi Dattani! It's poor bowling from Arlott who pitches it too full but Dattani is finding the gap with ease.

Naomi Dattani is finding her groove.
Four more! Through the off side!
Naomi Dattani clubs Emily Arlott through the leg side for four. Isn't the best looking shot but with most of the fielders inside the circle, it's destined for the boundary.

Issy Wong is a bit optimistic with the sun cream on her face today, it's a bit cloudy. Maybe she's using it more like war paint.
