Shikha Pandey, sporting a white headband (or bandanna, what's the difference?) bowls from the other end.
Pandey finds some beautiful swing and beats the edge of Winfield-Hill's bat.
A maiden.

It has, truly, been too long since we saw Jhulan Goswami bowling in a Test match.
England are off the mark with a single. Winfield-Hill flicks it off her pads, there are cries of "catch it" from the vocal India fielders but it's wide of short leg.
A good opening over for India. We said Goswami was a veteran - she played her first Test in 2002. Shafali Verma, who's making her Test debut for India, was born in 2004.

The veteran seamer Jhulan Goswami kicks things off. A good line, on the off stump and easily defended by Winfield-Hill.
And we're off.

England openers Lauren Winfield-Hill and Tammy Beaumont make their way to the middle.
Beaumont is an absolute rock for England at the top of the order. Since the start of 2019, she has scored 1433 international runs across formats.
In that same time frame only Australia’s Alyssa Healy (1713) has scored more.

I'm not surprised England have opted to bat first - make hay in the sunshine etc - but it would have been interesting if they'd opted to bowl. Used pitches can go either way. It can offer a bit more turn or it can just flatten out and therefore make it impossible to force a result. The pitch issue is disappointing, if we're honest. In a format that gets a lot of unfair criticism for being dull, giving a showpiece Test anything less than a top-class, fresh pitch, is a real letdown.
So the last time these two sides met in a Test...
David Cameron was British Prime Minister.
'Am I Wrong' by Nico & Vinz was number one in the UK singles chart (never heard of it).
And India comfortably beat England by six wickets in Wormsley.

It's laughable. It's the first time England and India are playing a Test since 2014 and you're seriously giving us a used pitch? You have to laugh or you'll cry. Can you imagine Jimmy Anderson turning up to play a game and finding out Lancashire women played on it the week before? It just wouldn't happen.
There was a bit of controversy leading up to this match.
The England and Wales Cricket Board said it was "disappointed and sorry" it will be played on a used pitch.
The pitch that will be used at the County Ground in Bristol has already had 39 overs of men's Twenty20 cricket played on it on Friday night.
England captain Heather Knight said the situation was "unfortunate".
"It is not ideal and we would much rather be on a fresh one," she told BBC Sport.
As Amy says, lots of sunshine in Bristol and little chance of rain - that's what we like to see.

It is absolutely glorious in Bristol this morning. Roasting hot, bright sunshine, plenty of buzz around the ground. There's been a cap presentation, too, with Sophia Dunkley set to become the 161st woman to play Test cricket for England. Shafali Verma will be making her India Test debut too.
India captain Mithali Raj: "We would've batted. I think the first session will be crucial - if we get some early breakthroughs we can put the pressure on them.
"We know it's a used pitch but the groundsmen have had the roller on it and it looks fresh, so hopefully our bowlers can get a bit out of it today.
"Shafali Verma makes her debut today, you will have to wait and see where she will bat in our innings.
"It is challenging to select a team for a format we don't play much. As senior players we do share our experiences and we've had some good sessions in the whites."

England captain Heather Knight: "There's been a lot of talk about the pitch but it looks good and we want to make the most of it first up. We've just got to play what's in front of us
"Sophia Dunkley comes in for her first game of Test cricket, we are all delighted for her and she massively deserves this chance. She's been outstanding in domestic cricket so I wish her all the best and hope she goes well.
"I'm really proud to be playing my 100th game as captain, but today is not about me, it's about my team and getting off to a good start to what will hopefully be a good week."
There's a lot of experience in that England line-up. And we're excited to see 22-year-old batter Sophia Dunkley, who becomes the first female black player to play Test cricket for England.
England: Beaumont, Winfield-Hill, Knight, Sciver, Jones, Dunkley, Elwiss, Brunt, Ecclestone, Shrubsole, Cross.
India: Mandhana, Verma, Raut, Raj, Kaur, Sharma, Rana, Bhatia, Goswami, Vastrakar, Pandey.
We'll bring you team news and hear from the England skipper in a moment but let's take a moment to applaud her on this magnificent milestone...
Captains Heather Knight and Mithali Raj are in the middle... and it's England who win the toss.
The hosts opt to bat first.
