  1. Eng 118-3published at 27 overs

    Knight 36, Jones 0

Amy Jones is the new batter in.

There were air punches and a giant roar from Tahuhu after taking that wicket. New Zealand have a spring in their step now - they've done so well to plug away and build the pressure on England's batters.

Heather Knight reminds the tourists she's still there by clipping Hannah Rowe down to the square-leg boundary.

Rowe then sends down another wide for New Zealand. They'll need to be careful not to gift England too many extras.

It was a bit of a nothing shot by Nat Sciver and she's better than that. It wasn't wide enough to play that stroke - she's just been finding ways to get out recently.

    Sciver b Tahuhu 2 (Eng 113-3)

Played on! The pressure was building on Nat Sciver as she struggled to find the middle of the bat. The batter goes to cut a delivery outside the off stump and edges onto her stumps.

    Tahuhu has a well-deserved wicket.

    Nice one, Ffion.

So then, a solid start from the hosts but a lack of fireworks. Will they up the rate in the second half of this innings? Let's find out.

Lea Tahuhu to bowl to Nat Sciver.

  5. Eng 111-2published at 25 overs

    Knight 31, Sciver 1

Sciver gets off the mark with a clip off her legs for a single. Hannah Rowe continues her impressive spell from earlier on with another testing over as New Zealand attempt to put the brakes on.

We're halfway through the innings which means it's time for me to make way for Kal Sajad, who will take you through the second half.

That was so odd - no-one looked interested in the lbw and I think it was Suzie Bates who ended up persuading Sophie Devine to send it upstairs.

Nat Sciver is a brilliant player but she is an lbw candidate when she first comes to the crease. So New Zealand will try and bowl fuller to her.

  8. Eng 109-2published at 24 overs

    Knight 29, Sciver 0

Nat Sciver safely defends her first couple of balls. Sophie Devine is delighted with that wicket - she didn't have much luck in her first spell and Beaumont was dropped off her bowling, too.

So good from New Zealand. Beaumont was looking to defend into the off side and played with her bat behind her front pad. It was a brilliant review.

  10. wicket

WICKETpublished at 14:33 British Summer Time 16 September 2021

Beaumont lbw Devine 44 (Eng 109-2)

That is absolutely bizarre! There was barely an appeal! Sophie Devine shrugged when making the review signal as if to say, 'might as well try'.

And it's a good job I'm not an umpire. I thought she'd hit it and going down leg. But no - there's no bat and it's hitting middle stump.

There was no interest from bowler and keeper. It's Suzie Bates at mid-off who saw something which interested her.

  12. New Zealand reviewpublished at 14:32 British Summer Time 16 September 2021

A very last-minute review from Sophie Devine for an lbw on Tammy Beaumont.

I'm not too sure about this. It seems a tad ... desperate.

England are, perhaps, starting to show a little bit more intent now.

  14. Eng 108-1published at 23 overs

    Beaumont 44, Knight 29

Well, this was building! Beaumont skips down the pitch and lofts Leigh Kasperek over mid-off for four runs.

The spinner was starting to frustrate Beaumont - who has had enough of it.

Tammy Beaumont has slowed down ever so slightly but these two have built a platform. They'll be trying to get as close to 280/290 as they can.

  16. Eng 101-1published at 22 overs

Another boundary for Tammy Beaumont, this time tickled down to fine leg past a despairing dive from the keeper.

The single next ball brings up the 50 partnership between this pair. It's looking very comfortable for England at the moment.

Beaumont will be glad she got that ball. It was a half-volley but well put away. She held her shot nicely.

  20. Eng 86-1published at 20 overs

    Beaumont 36, Knight 23

Beaumont forgets about her mistake from the last over as she punishes Jess Kerr, who overpitches yet again, for another four.

England very much building a platform here. It's not particularly expansive or exciting, but they're going to give their middle to lower order a very good opportunity to go for it later on in the innings.
