I'd love to see Amy Satterthwaite come in at number three today - she was a position too low in the first game for me. I understand that they want to spread out their three key players of Satterthwaite, Suzie Bates and Sophie Devine, but your best players have to face the most balls.

  2. NZ 33-0published at 7 overs

    Target 198

Yeah, Suzie Bates is in the mood.

Full and wide from Nat Sciver and the batter is not going to miss out on that - hammered for four with real authority.

I looked round and it was like a scene from Jaws. Now you see it, now you don't.

  5. NZ 28-0published at 6 overs

    Target 198

No alarms for New Zealand yet as they take three easy singles from Tash Farrant's latest over.

It's looking much more gloomy at Worcester than it was this morning.

It looks like Suzie Bates has come out and looked to be a bit pro-active today.

I don't mind this start from New Zealand. They are just taking their time.

They want to rectify their mistakes of the first ODI where they lost regular wickets, and didn't take advantage of the powerplay, but they don't need to do anything too silly.

  8. NZ 25-0published at 5 overs

    Target 198

England are certainly missing Brunt's accuracy from the first game. Nat Sciver bowls a very wide wide before Suzie Bates clips off her legs for four.

Make that clips off her legs for two fours. An expensive over.

What I like about watching Tash Farrant bowl is that everything is almost a wicket. It is always hands on head. She is very like Katherine Brunt in that respect.

  10. NZ 14-0published at 4 overs

    Bates 10, Down 4

A steady start for New Zealand, just ticking along in singles as they get themselves settled.

  11. NZ 10-0published at 3 overs

I'm also useless at scoring. It's even worse doing it electronically these days, when you can't just scribble out a mistake.

A Suzie Bates drive beats the dives of both Tammy Beaumont and Sophia Dunkley to run away for a couple.

With the greatest of respect Alex, you know I love you dearly, but I'm not convinced if you handed me a scorebook how much I'd believe it.

Honestly I couldn't think of much worse than coming to a game of cricket and scoring.

  15. NZ 7-0published at 2 overs

Tash Farrant's story is an impressive one of perseverance. She made her England debut back in 2013, and spent many years in and out of the side without really nailing it down.

She lost her place but refused to give up the dream of getting it back, and is now reaping the rewards of the professionalism of the domestic game - she was The Hundred's leading wicket taker.

Her first over here concedes just a single.

  16. How's stat?!published at 14:39 British Summer Time 19 September 2021

    Phil Long
    BBC Test Match Special statistician

New Zealand have now scored as many runs in this innings as they did in the first seven overs of their chase in the first ODI.

  17. NZ 6-0published at 1 over

The first runs for New Zealand come from the bat of Bates, slashing a wide ball from Sciver past point for four, followed by a couple of singles down to third man.

There's been an umpiring change - Anna Harris, making her ODI debut, is feeling unwell so has been replaced by Paul Pollard.

  18. NZ 0-0published at 0.1 overs

Thanks, Callum. Nat Sciver opens the bowling in Katherine Brunt's absence and starts with a dot ball that is defended by Suzie Bates.

Brunt's first four overs in the first ODI were maidens. England will need someone to put in a similar performance today - and how Brunt herself would love this challenge!

  19. Postpublished at 14:34 British Summer Time 19 September 2021

The players are making their way back out to the middle as New Zealand prepare to start their chase of 198.

That means it is time for me to have a break. Ffion Wynne will take you through the first part of that chase.

Anyone would think that Alex's season ended yesterday...
