  1. dropped catch

Green dropped on 22published at 18 overs

    NZ 68-2; Target 179

    How important could this be?

Maddy Green goes down the ground, and it is a opportunity for Sophie Ecclestone, but she doesn't time her jump properly. She gets fingertips to the ball, but that is all she can manage and the ball goes away to the boundary.

England can't really afford to miss opportunities when they've only got 178 on the board.

That's a loosener from Ecclestone and easy pickings for the batter.

  3. NZ 62-2published at 17 overs

    Target 179

Sophie Ecclestone - who has suncream smeared across her cheeks and nose - hasn't quite been on it so far today. She strays onto the pads of Amy Satterthwaite and the left hander just steers it away for another boundary.

The suncream thing? Necessary? My sister saw Sam Curran do it earlier in the summer and said it was absolute nonsense. "Why isn't is rubbed in?" may have muttered too.

  4. NZ 57-2published at 16 overs

    Target 179

I like Henry, and while that would be poetic magic, I'd have absolutely no problem with Dean getting Satterthwaite out either.

Just a single and a wide - that costs two because New Zealand scamper a single - from Dean's first over.

I always like a rhyming wicket. Dean to Green.

Another change for England as off-spinner Charlie Dean replaces Kate Cross.

Dean was brilliant on Sunday, taking 4-36.

England all-rounder on BBC Test Match Special

That's a beautiful shot from Satterthwaite. She's going to be more aggressive against Ecclestone, because she's a left hander it'll be easier for her.

  8. NZ 54-2published at 15 overs

    Target 179

    What a shot.

Amy Satterthwaite uses her feet to come a step or two down the track, and she just plants Sophie Ecclestone back over her head for a glorious straight four.

    She's played beautifully so far.

  9. NZ 50-2published at 14 overs

    Target 179

Kate Cross hasn't quite for her line and length right so far. She offers Maddy Green some width and the White Ferns number three again climbs into it and works it past backward point and away to the boundary.

This partnership is worth 35 now and it is guiding New Zealand into a solid position to win this game.

  10. NZ 44-2published at 13 overs

    Target 179

A semi appeal from England as Sophie Ecclestone hits Maddy Green on the pad, but Sue Redfern says not out. The ball was straying down the leg side I reckon.

Just a single from the over. The required run-rate stands at 3.66.

Ollie Skinner: I live next door to Alex Hartley (& therefore Crossy). I saw her sitting outside the flat the other day and in both awe and an awareness she was not wanting to be bothered I panicked and blurted out that I had just listened to the pod. Would she like a lift home?

  12. NZ 43-2published at 12 overs

    Target 179

I said Maddy Green only averaged 19 when she came to the crease earlier, but she looks good so far. She picks up another boundary with a guide through backward point. She's up to 15 and after the initial chaos, where it looked like every ball could pick up a wicket, it seems to have settled down a little bit.

  13. Postpublished at 17:39 British Summer Time 21 September 2021

Here's the review of Suzie Bates earlier. England thought they had their wicket when they saw the ball hit off stump, but the original decision stood because of how far down the pitch Bates was.

England, and Bates, thought it was out. A few may need to look at the laws of the game tonight.

  14. NZ 38-2published at 11 overs

    Target 179

Three runs from Sophie Ecclestone's first over.

The partnership is worth 25 now, and it should have helped settle a few nerves in the New Zealand changing room.

If you don't get Amy Satterthwaite out early, that's when it gets dangerous.

With that glorious four, Amy Satterthwaite brings up 6,000 international runs.

  19. NZ 35-2published at 10 overs

    Target 179

Amy Satterthwaite looks in very, very, very good touch here. She gets the ball through the tiniest gap in the off side to pick up another boundary. She's up to 13 off just 11 balls.

That's the end of the powerplay. Honours even? Just England? A close one.

Heather Knight does opt for a change.

    Kate Cross replaces Tash Farrant.
