Time lost to rain makes it even less likely England will have enough time to set West Indies something on the last day, but another bowl will at least give them a chance to look at Mark Wood's elbow - his place in the second Test match must be under some doubt at the moment

  2. 'We'll go for the win tomorrow'published at 21:52 Greenwich Mean Time 11 March 2022

More from Zak Crawley: "Joe (Root) was telling me to stay calm, make good decisions, that's all you can do. He made me calm when I was nervous in the 90s and that helped a lot.

"He's probably the best bat we've ever had, so to have him there with me and to have all my team-mates up on the balcony applauding too was a very happy moment, I absolutely loved it."

"We certainly want to try and win it tomorrow, we'll have a good go in the morning, then try and bowl them out."

Both batsmen played very well. It's the sort of innings you want to see from Crawley, very patient. Root was his usual, busy self, albeit under strangulated conditions.

  4. 'I didn't think I would get this opportunity again'published at 21:51 Greenwich Mean Time 11 March 2022

England's Zak Crawley, who is unbeaten on 117, speaking to BT Sport: "It's a very special feeling. It was tough year last year, I didn't think I would get this opportunity again.

"I can't wait to go again tomorrow."

Certainly England's day. They began it under a lot of pressure having to try and make sure they weren't bowled out cheaply. They were 64 runs behind... to finish with a lead of 153 is a very good effort.

  6. Close of playpublished at 21:33 Greenwich Mean Time 11 March 2022

And that's that. Play is done for the day.

England lead West Indies by 153 runs, with Zak Crawley scoring a very good century.

A draw is the most likely result and it has undoubtedly been a batter-friendly wicket, but it has been a terrific fourth day for England.

Umpires Joel Wilson and Gregory Brathwaite are in discussions with the England and West Indies captains.

Joe Root has a hand on his hip and Kraigg Brathwaite is looking into the distance. I wish I could lip read.

Right. So the umpires are walking back out. They have their arms crossed and are looking up at the sky. There are no umbrellas. Will we see any more cricket this evening? We'll find out soon enough.

This rain has frustrated England's rhythm. Root and Crawley were enjoying their partnership and ticking along very nicely. But I think England will be sitting pretty tonight in the knowledge they've played well.

The ground staff are wrestling with the covers - the wind is in full force.

As we wait for more news on whether there will be a re-start, here are some stats which will please England fans..

Zak Crawley: 117 off 200 balls, 16 boundaries.

Joe Root: 84 off 158 balls, six boundaries.

    Third-wicket partnership: 193 off 324 balls.

This is likely to be it for the day - they have to be playing by 21:30 GMT, which looks unlikely now

Down comes the rain. Up go the brollies. Off go the players. On come the covers.

A no-ball is whipped off the pads by Root. Make that two no-balls. Sloppy.

The floodlights are flickering on and the ground staff seem fidgety on the sidelines.

Kraigg Brathwaite leads his men out. It's looking gloomy in Antigua with pockets of grey clouds hovering over the Sir Viv Richards Stadium.

Nkrumah Bonner has five deliveries remaining in his over. Joe Root on strike.

Play will begin in a few minutes and can go on until 21:58 (GMT), but the light is likely to be an issue.

It has been a really substantial partnership. It's hard to see England getting really far ahead in this match but it does bodes well for the future, and for Zak Crawley.
