That felt like quite a speculative review from the West Indies.
Joe Root has been struck on the pad by Jayden Seales and West Indies have reviewed it. Do they have a sniff here?

ThatBritNerd: Your logic is flawed, even an average Test player can get themselves a huge score if things favour them. What matters is consistency with the bat and Joe Root is Mr Consistent despite playing most of his career with a top four waaaaaay below his level.
Big fan of the handwritten notes, Huw.
Joe Root politely dabs Jayden Seales' third ball to deep point to bring Ben Stokes back on strike.
Seales' fifth ball is too full and the England all-rounder gets himself off the mark with a glorious on drive. That was beautiful from Stokes, stood tall, leaning into the shot and timed to perfection.

Piemontemio: This morning is where we will see if the red-ball reset is beginning with the bat. Last summer and in the Ashes, we saw England 220-2 overnight, only for the rest of the team not to contribute. If more than two batsmen get significant runs, that's a step forward...

Ben Stokes shuffles down the pitch to play a defensive shot to Jason Holder's fourth delivery. You sense he's trying to get his feet moving to get himself in a positive frame of mind.

England used the light roller on the pitch this morning, suggesting they're happy with how it's playing so far.
The background behind the sightscreen, helpfully, is white so it's now been completely shunted out the way now.
Jayden Seales begins with three deliveries wide outside off stump which Joe Root is happy to leave well alone.
His fourth ball is poked into the off side by Root which brings him his first run of the day.

We've had one delivery in what should have been five minutes of play so far.
A few gremlins in the works with the other sightscreen now which has delayed Jayden Seales' over.
Could be a long day this..

John Petrie: I would put Root in the top 10 English batsmen of all time. Where he finishes in the last will be determined by what he does in the next 5 years or so.
A dot ball to Ben Stokes from Jason Holder to start. Joe Root resumes unbeaten on 119 and will face Jayden Seales first up.
There's a brief delay with a sightscreen issue at the Kensington Oval with the sponsors side still showing. A few West Indies players are over there trying to remedy the situation.
Otherwise we're almost ready for play at the Kensington Oval. Ben Stokes is on strike with Joe Root at the non-striker's end.
Jason Holder with one delivery last from his over last night will bowl.

Matthew Fisher has had an interesting career. He was the youngest Yorkshireman to play a competitive match aged 15, but he's only played 21 first-class games since, which, at the age of 24, points to a troublesome injury record. But I've been watching Fisher in the nets - I like his action, he hits the seam, gets some bounce and doesn't lack confidence
England seamer Matthew Fisher has just spoken to BT Sport about the day ahead and his excitement of playing in his first Test match.
He said: "We need to win that first hour and then quicken up the score. If we lose two or three quick ones it might not look so pretty. I think we have to bat on and get as many runs as we can. Our batters need to set the day up and when we come to bowl we need to be exceptionally brave with the new ball and get it up there.
"It was amazing to get my Test cap for myself and my friends and family. A real special moment. I hope to get that first Test wicket but we are here to win a series. It is exciting to try to get wickets on a pitch which doesn't offer you much. We have got weapons to do that."

Ex-England captain on BT Sport
Joe Root is a magician and makes runs for fun. He does it with a smile and does it incessantly. I'm quite jealous of him to be honest These are flat pitches but England need to be positive again today. Dan Lawrence did that yesterday but now it's someone else's job.
The top 10 scores by Englishmen in Test cricket, by the way, are:
1. Len Hutton 364 v Australia (1938)
2. Wally Hammond 336* v New Zealand (1933)
3. Graham Gooch 333 v India (1990)
4. Andy Sandham 325 v West Indies (1930)
5. John Edrich 310* v New Zealand (1965)
6. Alastair Cook 294 v India (2011)
7. Tip Foster 287 v Australia (1903)
8. Peter May 285* v West Indies (1957)
9. Denis Compton 278 v Pakistan (1954)
10. Zak Crawley 267 v Pakistan (2020)

Joe Root looked really good in Australia, but with the pressures of everything didn't quite get that big score that he deserved in the Ashes. Yesterday he looked balanced at the crease and the lateness with which he has played the ball show's he still in incredible form.
