Holder pushes into the off side for a single off Woakes. That's lunch.

It's been dire viewing. Don't blame it on the Windies. Don't blame it on England. Blame it on the pitch.

We've had 63 runs from 34 overs in the morning session, with the loss of one wicket.

  2. WI 350-5published at 150 overs

Kraigg Brathwaite, perhaps inspired by his team-mate, lets his hands go and cuts Leach for two runs.

We'll get one more in before the interval.

  3. WI 348-5published at 149.1 overs

A single to Holder! The wait is over. Celebrate good times.

  4. WI 347-5published at 149 overs

One run in 51 balls. Yep, you read that correctly. I'm genuinely just copying and pasting "WI 347-5" for each entry.

The partnership is worth 11 runs off 77 balls.

    Lunch, hurry up please.

The only way that Jack Leach looks like taking a wicket at the moment if is the ICC hurriedly implement the 'one-hand, one-bounce' rule for the rest of this innings.

Another drab maiden over ticks by.

  7. WI 347-5published at 147 overs

A change in bowling. On comes Chris Woakes for the first time this day.

Brathwaite tucks off his hips and looks to set off for a single. He's just teasing us. Stop it.

The opener then plays on the up to short mid-wicket but it lands a good few feet in front of the fielder.

    Leach to Holder.

Block. Block. Block. Block. Block. Block.

We've had one run in 33 balls.

  9. WI 347-5published at 145 overs

    Brathwaite 143, Holder 10

Holder punches down the ground. Stokes reaches out and attempts to get a hand on it before the ball clatters into the stumps at the bowler's end. There's a half-hearted appeal from Stokes but Holder was in. Also I'm not entirely sure Stokes got a hand to it.

  10. WI 347-5published at 144 overs

Holder faces Leach for the first time. But it's the same old story. Maiden. Yes, there is some uneven bounce and the odd delivery does something. But generally speaking, for a day-four wicket, this pitch is lifeless.

We saw two consecutive balls from Stokes that show what this pitch is doing. One scuttled along the ground and bounced again before reaching Foakes. The next reared up off a length and hit Holder on the gloves.

  12. WI 347-5published at 143 overs

Stokes beats the bat but the ball keeps low and doesn't even carry to Foakes. The next delivery really jumps off the turf. Holder then plays with soft hands as the ball squeezes through slip. One from the over.

I'm not going to say it straight. This Test is pretty dull. But we all live in hope that something will miraculously change.

Perhaps there should be an annual award for the best and worst Test match pitches to acknowledge the vital role groundmen play in creating a good Test match?

There are only so many ways I can tell you that Jack Leach has bowled an unthreatening maiden.

Ben Stokes is now into his 22nd over of the match, more than any other England seamer. Add that to the 41 overs that he bowled in Antigua, and that's a very heavy workload for someone whose bowling England are trying to manage.

  16. WI 346-5published at 141 overs

I'm not sure a campaign to boycott the beers on day five will hit off to be honest, Chris.

Jason Holder nicely controls a short delivery towards point for a single. Stokes bangs it in short to Brathwaite and the two trade smiles. A much happier exchange than what Stokes and Blackwood had yesterday.

Another single makes it two from the over.

Chris Ward: Dare one suggest it's almost like the priority for these grounds isn't sporting integrity but the prospect of keeping English fans in spending for five days?

  18. WI 344-5published at 140 overs

England will head back in at lunch and I'm sure the pitch will be the main topic of conversation. Aside from the odd turning delivery and a bit of movement with the new ball, it's as dead as a dodo.

Could the balance of points available in World Test Championships be shifted to discourage preparation of this type of pitch? Currently 12 for a win and 4 for a draw but what about going 15 - 4 or 12 - 3?

Gorgeous. Pitched up from Stokes and it's driven down the ground for four by Holder. Timed like a Swiss watchmaker. Shot of the morning, that.

Holder is on eight runs from 11 deliveries. Brathwaite is unbeaten on 142 from exactly 400 balls.
