Tea - WI 65-3published at 19:26 Greenwich Mean Time 20 March 2022
My word. Almost with the final ball of the session.
One from Dan Lawrence scurries along the pitch and Jermaine Blackwood only gets the tiniest bit of bat on it.

My word. Almost with the final ball of the session.
One from Dan Lawrence scurries along the pitch and Jermaine Blackwood only gets the tiniest bit of bat on it.
I wonder whether the wickets Lawrence has bungled in this series have anything to do with the batters being confused by his action. Lawrence got Blackwood out in the first innings remember...
Here's the partnership breaker Dan Lawrence. His will be the last over before tea.
Absolutely. I did not mean that as a criticism of this England team. This XI have done about what would be expected of them. I'm not sure England picked the right team, mind.

Piemontemio: It might have gone flat, but when was the last time England played consecutive tests where they batted swiftly for a declaration and pressed for a win on the final day? Positive signs and good to see the intent - the pitch is the problem.
Brathwaite 32, Blackwood 9
Stokes has his arms out again, this time not to shout at the DJ but instead in dismay at a ball that keeps low but does not beat bat. Kraigg Brathwaite has done well to get something on that.
One wicket before the break would be such a boost to England.

There are 10 minutes to go until tea. Sir Garfield Sobers is watching on from a chair in the stands like a king overlooking his kingdom.
Root plays around with his close catchers, moving Alex Lees from the off side to leg. Leach bowls a maiden.
Target 282
The DJ is feeling the wrath of Ben Stokes who is fuming after a burst of music comes right as he arrives at the crease to bowl. The England all-rounder holds out his arms and shouts something. The poor DJ is crouching behind his decks in fear.
It's just starting to look flat. Brathwaite has faced 70 balls, Blackwood 44.
Minimum 41 overs remaining
Remember England have only won one of their past 15 Tests. They are not exactly in the groove when it comes to turning these situations into wins, as good an effort as they're giving this.
Target 282
A beauty from Leach beats Jermaine Blackwood at the end of the over. The batter purses his lips. Dan Lawrence, England's helmet-wearing second slip, drops onto his chest/belly in dismay to look like a goalkeeper beaten by a last-minute winner.

This is a good spell from Stokes. He's found some lift and uneven bounce. The problem at the moment is that the pitch is so slow it gives the batsmen enough time to adjust to the one that keeps low.

The Barmy Army kick into their famous song to try and lift England. There's a group of them on their feet trying to increase the volume further.
Stokes bangs away, one ball keeping a little low. Kraigg Brathwaite jams his bat down. Stokes looks pained.
Brathwaite 31, Blackwood 4
Root is continuing for now, despite the suggestion from Aggers it was just a matter of Leach changing ends. For the second time Root draws an lbw appeal but this one looks too high too. The umpire shakes his head, not that that means a lot in this Test.
Minimum 45 overs remaining
Tea is the next target for West Indies, which will be taken at 19:25 GMT. The hosts were three down going into the last session in Antigua so we could have a similar situation.
No joy for Stokes on his entrance to the attack.

Stokes is coming on after that over from Root which might suggest a change of ends for Leach.
Brathwaite 29, Blackwood 4
Root's start with the ball is better than his hairstyle with one delivery resulting in an ambitious lbw shout. There isn't big turn but enough to keep you interested. Ben Stokes is coming on at the other end, in place of Jack Leach.

With both Robinson and Overton progressing well, England haven't called up a replacement for Mark Wood for the final Test in Grenada which starts on Thursday.
Joe Root is bringing himself on for a bowl.
Minimum 46 overs remaining
The England fans have been quietened down by this stand. Blackwood may not been scoring many runs but he is surviving.
It's three of England's inexperienced men around the bat - Zak Crawley, Dan Lawrence and Alex Lees, with Joe Root at leg slip.
Brathwaite rocks forward to smother Leach... again.
