Nic Wirtz: I think the best thing to do in this situation is blame it all on Timothy Abraham and move on.

  2. Eng 117-9published at 55.0 overs

Jack Leach adds three valuable runs to the total off Alzarri Joseph, then leaves Saqib Mahmood to fend off three balls which he is able to survive.

Another 15 or 20 runs could be crucial here.

  3. Eng 114-9published at 54.0 overs

England's last batter Saqib Mahmood survives three balls then gets a beauty from Jayden Seales which pitches just outside off stump and nips away to beat his defence.

Seales follows through and gives him an earful. Something along the lines of "That's wasted on you sunshine!".

The end of England's innings is nigh you sense.

The simplicity of Jack Leach's shows what you can do on this pitch. He is showing the top-order that if you play that way it will carry you far.

West Indies' bowlers have hit those good lengths which prompted the collapse. Since then they have searched a little for those wickets which has let England off the hook a little. We don't know what a good score is. England have to try to get as many as they can to give themselves a chance.

When David Gower said he wanted to see Saqib Mahmood earlier I assume he meant with the ball?

Five wickets for 68 run in that session - useful partnerships featuring Chris Woakes, Craig Overton and Jack Leach, but it's clear that Woakes and Overton are going to have to come out and bowl very well with the new ball.

You need a bit of luck on this pitch with the ball moving around, but you also need to leave the ball better with a strong technique and capitalise on anything loose. This was just like the Ashes when the ball was moving around they chased it and that's why England are eight wickets down.

James Gulleford: Dreadful from England today. Trouble with this England team is they only know two ways, either a blockathon or to play big silly shots and get themselves out! Today has been both! No one can rotate the strike, find the gaps and take 1s, 2s and 3s!

Well that was quite a debut in this series. It felt like the Ashes all over again.

Chris Woakes and Jack Leach have shared 24 for the ninth wicket now, though. Hopefully they can continue to build after the interval.

Timothy Abraham will talk you through it.

The ball has definitely got softer making batting easier for Chris Woakes and Jack Leach.

Jack Leach sees off Jermaine Blackwood and England go to tea eight down.

They've lost five wickets for 68 runs in that middle session. They've got a lot of hard work to do.

Oh. More spin. What are West Indies doing? Jermaine Blackwood will bowl the final over before tea.

Where is Kyle Mayers? He's got two wickets from five overs and didn't concede a run. We haven't seen him since.

  17. Eng 114-8published at 52 overs

There's a little bit of spin there too. Jack Leach won't have minded seeing that at the non-striker's end.

Bonner feels with a full toss, which Chris Woakes misses out on, by driving straight to extra cover on the bounce.

Oh, time for a bit of spin. Part time spin anyway.

Chris Mitchell: Not trying to gloss over a poor batting performance but if we can get to 130, that could be competitive and gives us momentum. Games not done by any stretch.

  20. Eng 114-8published at 51 overs

    Woakes 25, Leach 10

Jack Leach is doing a good job of trying to make sure England get to tea. He takes his glasses off and Shamarh Brooks walks over from short leg and offers to clean and polish them for him.

Leach lets him and then the England spinner has the tricky job of getting them back on through the helmet grille, with his gloves on. It's a very meticulous operation.
