And slightly less convincing next time as a thick outside edge squirts down to third man for the over's third four.
Brunt is ticking ... again.

If these two get going it could be really spectacular.
That drive was like a tracer bullet. It was such a good shot.
Alexa, show me the perfect cover drive.
Too full from Brunt and Mandhana threads it through the covers past a diving Kate Cross for another boundary. Beautiful.
Mandhana gets her first boundary as Brunt drops short and it's heaved into the leg side for four. She loves a pull shot.

You sort of sense these two aren't playing quite as many shots as in the first two ODIs. I wonder if they've been told they are key if India are going to win this.
Verma 7, Mandhana 3
It's been a sedate start from India's openers, who just seem to be taking their time to adjust to the pitch which is probably a sensible move.
Shrubsole gifts them a couple of wides and shouts at herself in disgust. Thankfully the stump mic doesn't pick up the words.
I think we need a photo of Alex Hartley's flared trousers, anyone else?

I think Noddy Holder and Slade really made it sing in 1973. But for me now, I don't think it's quite my sort of vibe.

Are you a fan of the flare trouser?

I was wondering where you got them from. They are extraordinary.

I'm not happy, you know.
I've got some expensive new trousers on and I've just plucked them under the desk. There must be a splinter.
I still refuse to believe that Shafali Verma is 17. She's just so composed, and obviously ludicrously talented.
A tidy over from Katherine Brunt brings just two.

Nooo!?! I'm going to have that write that down in the podcast notes!

And more than Charlotte Edwards now.

I saw a lovely stat at half-time that Kate Cross has hit more sixes in one-day cricket than Laura Marsh now.
Verma 6, Mandhana 1
Verma takes a wild swing at Shrubsole and gets an outside edge that flies over Tammy Beaumont at point.
She then goes hard at a fuller ball and punishes it over mid-off for four.
Shafali Verma is just so chill. She defends Anya Shrubsole solidly and swishes her bat over her shoulder followed by a pop of her gum.

The fact that none of England's batters were able to go on, and capitalise on the starts, says a lot about the pitch I think.
A couple of nervous prods outside the off stump from Shafali Verma, as Katherine Brunt tests her with a good line and length.
Verma gets India's first run with a thick outside edge down to third man.

India will back themselves to chase this. It is pretty evenly poised at the moment.
Here we go, the players are back out in the middle. No surprises with Shafali Verma and Smriti Mandhana for India, Katherine Brunt to kick things off for England.
