    Winfield-Hill 10, Knight 8

India have saved at least four boundaries out there so far, I'd say - Harmanpreet Kaur the latest to bring out a goalkeeper-style dive to restrict a lovely Heather Knight drive to just a single.

One thing that has been noticeable in the first few overs is how on it India's fielders are. They haven't missed a beat.

This might not be the easiest pitch in the world to score on. There was barely any bounce in that delivery from Shikha Pandey that did for Tammy Beaumont.

  4. Eng 21-1published at 6 overs

    Winfield-Hill 10, Knight 7

There is definitely some uneven bounce out there, as Winfield-Hill goes for a pull shot to a ball not too dissimilar to the one that dismissed Tammy Beaumont. There are calls of "catch it!" but it drops short of fine leg.

  5. Eng 18-1published at 5 overs

Oh, Shikha Pandey. She's saved a four by sticking her foot out last minute - in fairness she covered a lot of ground to get there.

I'm sure plenty of club cricketers will be relying on similar tactics around the country today to save diving on wet and muddy outfields.

Our line went down and everyone was scrambling around trying to sort it out, and our scorer Phil Long was wondering out loud whether he should have brought his tomato plants to sit on the sill of our warm press box.

  7. Eng 16-1published at 4 overs

    Winfield-Hill 9, Knight 4

Taniya Bhatia, take a bow. It's actually so good it's hard to describe because it won't do it justice. Shikha Pandey bowls a wide down the leg side, Bhatia dives full length to intercept it and flicks it without looking to hit the stumps but Winfield-Hill's foot was back safely.

  9. Eng 15-1published at 3.2 overs

That is glorious from Winfield-Hill. It's too wide from Shikha Pandey, and the batter goes aerial over cover for four.

Taniya Bhatia is a superb wicketkeeper for India and she's taken the aggressive option this morning by standing up to the opening bowlers.

  11. Eng 11-1published at 3 overs

Winfield-Hill used her feet to a few balls from Goswami so Taniya Bhatia comes straight up to the stumps - love that aggression from India.

  12. Eng 9-1published at 2.4 overs

Lauren Winfield-Hill gets off the mark with her first four, but it's a big of a hack playing across the line to Goswami with a lot of bottom hand.

She'd faced nine balls without scoring so perhaps a shot of frustration.

  13. Eng 5-1published at 2 overs

    Winfield-Hill 0, Knight 4

Heather Knight gets off the mark straight away with a boundary between cover and point as Pandey goes short and wide. No nerves from the captain, then.

This is the noisiest crowd we've had yet. There's lots of India fans in, flags scattered around the stands, while I think there is a small contingent of the England players' friends and family sat near me. Makes for a cracking atmosphere.

Beaumont got herself into an almighty tangle there.

    Eng 1-1published at 1.4 overs

    Beaumont lbw Pandey 0

What a strange dismissal that was!

Tammy Beaumont goes for a pull shot and gets in a difficult position as it keeps low and hits her bang in front on the back leg. I don't think there was any discussion of a review, the umpire didn't hesitate to raise the finger.

    Huge for India.

It's one of those days - the sun keeps peeping out, it's muggy, damp.

  18. Eng 1-0published at 1 over

Lauren Winfield-Hill plays a lovely shot to cover but Jemimah Rodrigues is like a whippet and makes good ground and a diving catch to intercept.

Smriti Mandhana repeats the dose at point a few balls later, and India look and sound buzzing in the field again - three players rush over to congratulate their efforts.

  19. Eng 1-0published at 0.1 overs

Jhulan Goswami gifts England a wide from the first ball to get their scoring under way.
