  1. NZ 19-0published at 10 overs

Mohammed Shami comes into the attack in replace of Jasprit Bumrah.

And he immediately surprises Latham with some awkward bounce that just drops short of gully. More gasps of disbelief from India's slip fielders, but Latham played it well in the end, with soft hands that meant it went into the ground.

I still think this is going to be a low-scoring game. It's not going to be easy for the New Zealand batsmen.

  3. NZ 17-0published at 9 overs

    Latham 9, Conway 8

The crowd seems to be getting lively as Ishant Sharma gets a loud build-up, cheering and clapping him all the way into his delivery stride.

It's been a slow-scoring start but fascinating - neither side is giving an inch.

  4. Stokes returns in T20 Blastpublished at 14:56 British Summer Time 20 June 2021

In other cricket news, England's Ben Stokes has returned to action for Durham in the T20 Blast today - and has just got out after smashing 29 from 18 balls, with four fours and a six.

  5. NZ 16-0published at 8 overs

A glimpse of the Devon Conway that England became very familiar with recently as he drives with exquisite timing for four past mid-off.

Bumrah hits back with a big shout for lbw but umpire Michael Gough is having none of it. Too high.

But when he did get a wide one, he made sure he put it away.

  7. NZ 12-0published at 7 overs

Latham only has eight from 24 balls but he has been impressive - he's left excellently outside his off stump, as he blocks out a maiden from Ishant Sharma.

Should have held the Test championship at Old Trafford. The weather down south is grim.

  9. NZ 12-0published at 6 overs

    Latham 8, Conway 4

Bumrah hits 89mph, but Latham seems to be lining him up quite nicely at the moment. He clips off his pads for a single, the only run to come from the over.

It is very, very overcast out there. India's bowlers will want to make the most of this.

Francis Edwards: Seen every one of Jamieson’s Tests, I don’t think I’ve seen such talent since Pat Cummins came back into the Test arena and he’s done okay. He will win many a Test match for NZ as if they didn’t have enough matchwinners. Not bad with the willow either.

  11. NZ 11-0published at 5 overs

Ishant Sharma and Jasprit Bumrah have started brilliantly and are giving nothing away - they both settled into a full, testing length quickly and have barely strayed from it.

Conway gets off the mark with a streaky four down to third man before uncharacteristically taking a wild swipe at a wide ball outside his off stump - that's what pressure does.

  12. NZ 7-0published at 4 overs

    Latham 7, Conway 0

Latham gets a slight bit of width from Bumrah, bowling at 87mph, and places it perfectly for four through cover.

But batting does not look easy out there - India have got the ball swinging and bouncing awkwardly.

Bounce was certainly something that Kyle Jamieson made good use of earlier...

  13. NZ 3-0published at 3 overs

    Latham 3, Conway 0

In the crowd, a spectator was just taking an umbrella down which is promising.

This is a real test for Devon Conway as he is yet to get off the mark and plays and misses at an absolute peach from Ishant Sharma. India's slips jump and gasp in comedic unison.

I hate to tell you this but it’s raining.

  15. NZ 2-0published at 2 overs

What a month or so it's been for Devon Conway - 200 on Test debut and now playing in the World Test Championship final in just his third game.

Bumrah's action is hard to read and Conway gets a scratchy inside edge which is blocked from the stumps by his pad.

Fascinating start to the second innings. Clouds still about, let's see what the India seamers can do.

Kohli looked like he was going to take on Colin Jackson over the 110m hurdles as he leapt in anticipation of a catch there.

There’s a party going on around the Bharat Army whose drums and saxophone continue to play.

Best atmosphere of the match so far.

  18. NZ 1-0published at 1 over

A beauty from Ishant Sharma second ball beats Latham's outside edge and the Indian supporters let out a collective cry of excitement.

Latham tucks a single off his hip from the final ball to get off the mark and keep the strike.

On a very separate note, how long as Ishant had this short hair for? Is it a new thing or am I just really unobservant?

  19. Postpublished at 14:18 British Summer Time 20 June 2021

But now it's New Zealand's turn. Tom Latham and Devon Conway are out in the middle now and Ishant Sharma has the new ball.
