We've lost a lot of overs and it's been frustrating but let's be optimistic. We've had 141 overs so far, we've got 332 in total for the match by my count, and most Test matches in England in the past five years would come in under that amount of overs so there's enough time left for a result I reckon. Let's remember the ball will still be new-ish, we know New Zealand swung it in the first innings and the bowlers are fresh and raring to go.

The India players are in a huddle. They are all looking very smart in their cable-knit sweaters. Ross Taylor and Kane Williamson are striding to the crease.

The light roller is chugging up and down the pitch, the umpires are out and the players are ready. There's talk of one rogue shower around in an hour or so but hopefully we'll manage to escape it as everyone is desperate for some cricket.

The former for me, Matthew. I don't want to make myself unpopular with a nation of India fans, but I'm not sure they can win this match from here.

So what do we need for a positive result here? I reckon the best chance is New Zealand bat all day, get a decent lead and then bowl India out tomorrow. Not impossible but they'd have to bat very well to do so.

You'd think India would have to bowl New Zealand out quickly, hope one of their superstars slogs a hundred, build a 250/300-run lead and give themselves two sessions to bowl the Black Caps out again tomorrow.

Anyway, we're expecting to see some cricket very, very soon. The roller is going up and down the pitch and the players are ready.

New Zealand are 101-2, 116 behind India.

Dear Mr Text Commentary Can we have a party where all light meters are destroyed? Maybe at the final of The Hundred to attract more people? Or potentially at the Adelaide D/N test, we could stick the on the barbecue!
