  1. Aus 212-2published at 82 overs

Am I watching the same game? Broad is getting the ball to move all over the place and makes Labuschagne look like a batter yet to score, as opposed to one on 94 from 254 balls.

He's hopping around all over the place in his crease and that is a beautiful over, so desperately unlucky to go wicketless.

  2. Aus 212-2published at 81.2 overs

Staying true to himself, Labuschagne pulls off potentially his most ridiculous leave of all time from the next ball. Hard to describe it, really, there are so many movements in so many directions.

That rattled his hand. It was a nasty ball.

  4. Aus 212-2published at 81.1 overs

Stuart Broad's first ball nips back in at Labuschagne and ricochets off his elbow and into a slightly more painful region.

He drops to his knees for a few seconds.

If England's tactics are to be justified, they need to take two or three wickets in this period.

  6. Aus 212-2published at 81 overs

    Labuschagne 94, Smith 10

Steve Smith negotiates Anderson's first over back, and there is enough swing and carry there to keep the bowlers in the game.

It's just whether England's bowlers can pitch it up enough to make it count, which they didn't really do this morning. 4am seems like so long ago.

The new ball got England one wicket early this morning. Two or three tonight would be delightful.

It seems like England have been waiting for this for most of the day.

It does feel as through the game has drifted to this point.

  10. new ball

    Aus 212-2published at 80 overs

With the final delivery with the poor old ball, Chris Woakes whizzes one past Labuschagne's outside edge. Again.

So here it is. James Anderson whirls his arms around and twists his back. The build up towards this new ball has been very tense, like the game has been put on pause until it's taken.

Hopefully he can do something with it.

It's the phoney war. We're moving more rapidly towards the new ball.

  12. Aus 212-2published at 79 overs

Joe Root's over passes in the blink of an eye and concedes just a single. It's funny what the prospect of a new ball can do to your over rate.

  13. Aus 211-2published at 78 overs

    Labuschagne 93, Smith 10

    Smith blocks out another maiden.

Wicket before the new ball, anyone?

Danny Morgan: Surely if the tactic was to bowl short, you would at least pick Mark Wood? Once again absolutely baffling tactics from this England team.

  15. Aus 211-2published at 77 overs

Joe Root whizzes through another over as England desperately claw their way towards the new ball.

Smith and Labuschagne are almost in competition for who can make the weirdest movement after the ball has gone through to the keeper.

  17. Aus 208-2published at 76 overs

    Labuschagne 92, Smith 8

Labuschagne's 'no run' when he leaves the ball to go through to the keeper must be so ridiculously annoying for bowlers. It's probably why he does it, but still.

Chris Woakes completes another over - he's been the most innocuous today, arguably. Just nothing happening for him.

  18. Aus 206-2published at 75 overs

Marnus Labuschagne is into the 90s ...

  19. Aus 202-2published at 74 overs

    Labuschagne 88, Smith 6

Better from Broad, testing Labuschagne outside the off stump. The runs have dried up a little since Warner's wicket, which is expected.

We're into the last hour of play. Can England sneak a couple more?

The short-bowling tactic has not worked. Also the over-rate is not what England would have wanted - they wanted 10 overs late at night with the new ball in the dark.
