We are seeing some dark clouds moving towards us, but they do look more threatening on television than from where we are sitting in the SCG. On TV, they look like some kind of dark, threatening battleship which is about to take over the skies.

There are only 6.2km between Bondi Beach and SCG, apparently.

Surely he is not going to do something ridiculous today? I genuinely thought Joe Root was going to have to help him back to his feet for a second there.

Pat Cummins returns and sends down a maiden to Joe Root. The England skipper is almost hit in that delicate area again, but he'll have to go through the pain of a bruise on the inner thigh instead.

Ben Stokes strikes me as the kind of player who would relish the challenge of batting injured. He can channel the pain into something useful.

Steve Smith, who is Australia's vice captain, decides to change his fielding position to a leg gully almost.

Cameron Green isn't happy about that. He walks up to Pat Cummins and tells him to move Smith back to leg slip. Rate it.

Ben Stokes gets forward on the defence and an inside edge flicks off the thigh pad and just past Marcus Harris at short leg. He reacts, but he can't get his hand down towards his left knee quickly enough to take the catch.

Crawley was imperious in that innings, the way he latched onto length.

Crawley didn't play a shot in anger. He just latched onto any length extremely well.

BinBagJez: Controversial opinion, but it wasn't a 'great' Crawley innings. He was seeing it well, and in form. To only see 99 balls off and have such a high strike-rate is irresponsible when realistically England are going for the draw.
