Here's how Haseeb Hameed fell for nine...
Crawley 49, Malan 2
Zak Crawley moves to within a run of 50 with a nudge off his hips through mid-wicket.
The sun is starting to peak through the clouds at the SCG now. There is no imminent sign of rain.
Do not bowl there to Zak Crawley.
It is down the leg side, at waist height, and Crawley flick-pulls to the boundary.
Poor ball, that is deservedly punished.
A change for Australia. Mitchell Starc replaces Pat Cummins.
They keep on coming.

England's WinViz is at 0%. The draw is 62%, which I think takes into account the weather.
This pitch isn't nice for new batters - it is extremely difficult to start on. Dawid Malan is currently in that phase.
There's an appeal for caught behind as Scott Boland beats the outside edge as Malan presses forward, before the England batter gets hit on the pad as he shuffles out of his crease.
He is, at least, off the mark though, via a fend off the glove past short leg.

That's an easy shot for Crawley to play because he's such a tall batter.
Crawley 44, Malan 0
Zak Crawley!
He picks up four with a well-timed pull, that Scott Boland can't get near at fine leg, despite it only being a couple of yards to his left.
Four more! Crawley stands tall and crunches a pull through mid-wicket. A superb shot.
Lovely batting.

The partnership was England's second longest opening stand against Australia in the last four Ashes series, just three balls short of equalling Alastair Cook and Mark Stoneman's stand at Adelaide in 2017.

David Warner gave Alex Carey a pat on the head after he took that catch, just to say well done after he dropped one a few overs ago.

You get the sense that if Hameed had got a score today, England would have given him a chance at Hobart. Do they bring back Rory Burns?
Dawid Malan takes an absolute age to get ready, scratching his mark into the crease and prodding at the pitch, before walking away and coming back again.
We'll see all those tricks today.
Malan sees out the rest of the over.

Mark Wilson: And that should be the end of Hameed’s Test career. Bring in Vince.

That's six consecutive single-figure scores for Haseeb Hameed. He is only the seventh opener to do that. Dom Sibley did the same last year.

That was probably a ball Hameed didn't need to play at. He played it more on line than length and got a tickle through to Carey.
Hameed c Carey b Boland 9 (Eng 46-1)
Another single-figure score for Haseeb Hameed.
It is more good bowling from Scott Boland as he tempts Hameed into playing at a ball he can leave alone on length, and Alex Carey gathers the edge behind the stumps.
Since Hameed came back into the side in the summer he has scores of 0, 9, 68, 0, 63, 25, 27, 6, 0, 0, 7, 6 and now 9.

This is Zak Crawley's 18th Test innings since he made 267 against Pakistan. It is only the second time he has reached 30.
He has had 11 single-figure scores and hasn't scored as many runs in those 18 innings as he did in that one innings against Pakistan at Southampton.

I like watching Crawley bat because he plays his shots. He's an aggressive top-order batter. He likes to keep the scoreboard ticking over.
Crawley 36, Hameed 9
Four! Pat Cummins strays onto Zak Crawley's pads and he whips it through square.
And again! Through mid-wicket this time though.
I don't want to put the mockers on Crawley, but yeah, you know what I'm thinking.
Time for Cummins to come off I think.
I imagine those people doing cartwheels are the same people who ask you to transfer them £1.50.
The worst kind of people.
