  1. Aus 8-0published at 2.3 overs

Australia have their first boundary courtesy of some shoddy fielding by Anya Shrubsole on the boundary as she's beaten by the spin. She holds her hand up to apologise to her old mate Katherine Brunt.

I'd steer clear for a while.

If anyone is going to get an early breakthrough for England you'd feel it was Katherine Brunt. She's hit the deck and the pitch looks a good one, which isn't particularly bowler friendly by the looks of things.

  3. Aus 3-0published at 2 overs

    Haynes 0, Healy 3

That lbw appeal? Inside edge. Good decision from the umpire.

England have two slips though with Shrubsole hooping it around. Healy gets off the mark with a chipped couple.

  4. Aus 0-0published at 1.1 overs

Huuuuge swing for Anya Shrubsole first up and she hits Healy on the pad!

"Give it, give it," England plead. Nothing from the umpire.

    Was that doing too much?

  5. Aus 0-0published at 1 over

Two more good 'uns from England's finest, Katherine Brunt. It's a maiden to begin.

Healy will face next after her pair in the Test.

  6. Aus 0-0published at 0.4 overs

Good start from Katherine Brunt - four balls, four dots. Rachael Haynes is tied down for now.

There was a lot of disappointment after the Test match in the England dressing room. The only exception to that was probably Kate Cross who had saved the game and kept the Ashes alive. But it showed England if they put some pressure on Australia they can crumble so they must go out and do that straight away. If they do that they have a chance, although the Aussies are favourites.

  8. Aus 0-0published at 03:10 Greenwich Mean Time 3 February 2022

    We're ready to go.

England are in their Coventry City blue ODI kit. Australia are wearing a special Indigenous shirt for this game.

Katherine Brunt has the ball in hand. Another duck for Alyssa Healy anyone?

The Ashes are up for grabs but there's also a World Cup on the horizon so it's intriguing how both sides will go today. I'm surprised there's not been a few more changes to both sides from the Test. I think Danni Wyatt will be key for England.

    That's the good news.

I'll now do my best impression of a mood hoover and remove any optimism you may have.

Australia are very, very good at one-day internationals.

They lost their last game - a dead rubber against India - but before that won 26 ODIs in a row.

In fact the Aussies have only lost two games in this format since the 2017 World Cup.

    Good luck, England...

  11. England win the toss and bowlpublished at 03:05 Greenwich Mean Time 3 February 2022

Captain Heather Knight has done the first job. She can do no wrong at the minute.

Knight has won the toss and England have elected to bowl. Danni Wyatt is back to add some impetus in the middle order.

    Megan Schutt returns for Australia.

After Sunday's incredible drama in the Test, England are left with with little option.

Win or the Ashes are gone.

Today is the first of three one-day internationals which conclude this series. Australia need one win to retain the Ashes.
