Just the shake of Brunt's head after that shot, she was so disconsolate.

  2. SA 66-1published at 17 overs

    Target 236

Tazmin Brits started slowly but she's into her stride now.

Katherine Brunt has bowled too short again so far and this one is asking to be hit. Brits obliges, pulling ferociously to the boundary.

Time for some Sophie Ecclestone ... ?

Laura Wolvaardt has worked hard on scoring through mid-wicket, on slow wickets and when the ball goes soft. She's been told she doesn't have to score pretty runs. Ugly runs are OK.

  4. drinks break

    SA 60-1published at 16 overs

    Target 236

Power from Wolvaardt as she pulls Kate Cross off the front foot for another boundary.

She is such a joy to watch - a flawless technique combined with power and finesse when needed. Genuinely not sure who is the happier team at this first drinks break.

I'm nervous. South Africa don't have a good record against England in ODIs. I felt this was a real opportunity for South Africa with England under pressure to put points on the board.

  6. SA 54-1published at 15 overs

    Target 236

I literally have no idea where this game is heading. England have been clinical, not let South Africa get away, but they'd have liked a few more wickets.

The worm shows South Africa Women are tied with England Women. South Africa Women are 54 for 1 after 15 overs. At the same stage England Women were 54 for 3.

It was a risk Brits needed to take because she's been chewing up deliveries.

Lovely shot from Brits. So much bottom hand, Cross won't feel she has done that much wrong but Brits has bulleted it through mid-wicket for four.

  9. SA 51-1published at 14 overs

    Target 236

Another boundary to Brits, this time clubbed past mid-wicket for what feels like a four out of frustration.

If she can keep rotating the strike with these boundaries, it'll keep that run rate at a healthier rate for South Africa.

England's bowlers refuse to bowl anything full, which would allow South Africa easy runs.

Anya Shrubsole's bowling: 0% full, 82% good length and 18% short. 6 overs, 0 maidens, went for 17 runs, took 1 wickets with an economy of 2.83.
Kate Cross' bowling: 0% full, 89% good length and 11% short. 3 overs, 1 maidens, went for 7 runs, took 0 wickets with an economy of 2.33.

Really well bowled by Shrubsole. The ball that got hit back past her was in the slot but she has adjusted her length ever so slightly.

  12. SA 46-1published at 13 overs

There's the release shot for Tazmin Brits, nailing Shrubsole back down the ground for four welcome runs.

It just feels like South Africa need one big over to get their run rate up and get themselves a bit of momentum. They're not really going anywhere.

England have taken just the one wicket but it's the big one of power hitter Lizelle Lee.

  14. SA 41-1published at 12 overs

    Target 236

They may have dropped another couple of catches but England's bowling has been so much better today.

They've bowled a fuller length and frustrated Tazmin Brits in particular - she has seven from 20 balls.

    A maiden for Kate Cross.

  15. SA 41-1published at 11 overs

    Target 236

Tazmin Brits charges at Anya Shrubsole and pulls firmly for four runs.

A good tactic - Shrubsole is settling easily into a rhythm and South Africa's batters have got to try and put her off her length.

Wolvaardt has been dropped on four and 23. If you're England, you have to hope that she doesn't cash in here.

It was difficult, Cross was going the other way in her follow-through. She stuck out a right hand and she might have been done by a lack of pace but stick it down as another dropped catch by England.

  19. dropped catch

Wolvaardt dropped (again) on 23published at 10 overs

    SA 35-1

    Another one goes down.

    It's a tough chance for Kate Cross - one-handed in her follow-through - but it's a chance nonetheless.

She got a full hand to it, and it's another life for Laura Wolvaardt, who is not a player you want to gift lives to.

  20. SA 32-1published at 9 overs

    Target 236

Another testing over from Shrubsole as Tazmin Brits almost plays on to her stumps from the final ball.

Four overs, one wicket and just six runs for England's opening bowler so far.
