  1. wicket

WICKETpublished at 02:56 British Summer Time 31 March 2022

    Knight lbw b Khaka 1 (Eng 51-1)

A brave review brings the wicket! Crashing into middle stump!

You can see why it was given not out - it was very close to the bat. Heather Knight just played all around a straight delivery from Khaka, there's not much else to it.

South Africa strike at a crucial, crucial time - just as Wyatt was upping the tempo and starting to get away from them, they peg England back again.

    Ooooh, there's no bat!

  3. South Africa reviewpublished at 02:55 British Summer Time 31 March 2022

Brave from South Africa to use another review having wasted one already.

Another lbw on Heather Knight is given not out. I think she may have hit it.

The ball just seemed to hang in the air and maybe a gust just took it away from Marizanne Kapp. She looked for all the world to have it but no!

  5. dropped catch

Wyatt dropped (again) on 36published at 12 overs

    Eng 50-1

    Another life for Wyatt!

She miscues a pull shot up in the air, Marizanne Kapp covers a lot of ground to get there from mid-wicket but the ball just pops out of her hands as she hits the ground.

Would've been a good grab but you've got to take those chances in big games like this. And you can't give Danni Wyatt multiple chances.

Hammered away, lovely shot. Goodness me! A brutal wallop through the off side.

  7. Eng 49-1published at 11.3 overs

Danni Wyatt is in the mood now, down on one knee and crunching a full delivery from Klaas over extra cover for four.

She seems to be relishing the chance to step up after the early loss of Beaumont.

It's a good recovery from England. It was a menacing spell from Ismail and Kapp.

  9. Eng 45-1published at 11 overs

A much-improved Ayabonga Khaka concedes just a single from her second over.

Can South Africa put the squeeze on England now with more fielders allowed on the boundary?

How often to we see that? A dropped catch and the next ball or the one after goes for four. Probably the shot of the day so far from Danni Wyatt.

  11. Eng 44-1published at 10 overs

    Wyatt 31, Knight 1

Four more, crunched off the bat from Wyatt and wow, that races through the covers.

England have just started to dominate the bowlers, suggesting they had a clear plan of seeing off Kapp and Ismail before cashing in on the inconsistency of the others.

It was a tough catch for Lizelle Lee in the gully region. She gets a hand to it but it looked very ugly from Lee, to be honest.

  13. dropped catch

Wyatt dropped on 22published at 02:43 British Summer Time 31 March 2022

    Oh, so close!!

Masabata Klaas draws the outside edge of Wyatt first ball with some awkward bounce, but Lizelle Lee spills a very difficult one-handed chance at slip.

To make matters worse, the ball races away to the boundary.

  14. Eng 35-1published at 9 overs

A poor start from Khaka despite that lbw shout as she concedes 12, letting England massively off the hook after Kapp and Ismail built up such a sustained period of pressure.

  15. Not outpublished at 02:40 British Summer Time 31 March 2022

Never in doubt, Alex. Outside the line of off stump and South Africa lose a review.

My initial thought is that it is hitting her outside the line of off stump.

  17. South Africa reviewpublished at 02:40 British Summer Time 31 March 2022

It's a good delivery from Khaka to nip in and strike Knight on the pads, but looks outside the line.

An optimistic review from South Africa, you'd think.

The difference between Khaka hanging the ball outside the off stump and Ismail doing the same, is the pace. Wyatt has far more time against Khaka.

  19. Eng 32-1published at 8.2 overs

Ayabonga Khaka replaces Ismail and immediately gifts Danni Wyatt some width to crash through the off side - twice.

This is South Africa's problem - can their change seamers maintain the pressure built by their talismanic openers?

South Africa have bowled to their plans. Their plan is to bowl wide of off stump and pack the offside field to try and force England to do something different. So far they haven't.
