Taylor dropped on 26published at 17:27 British Summer Time 23 June 2021
Oh, Cheteshwar Pujara.
Jasprit Bumrah finds the outside edge of Ross Taylor, it's a straightforward one to first slip but he's dropped it.
India really, really needed that.

New Zealand have this game under a reasonable amount of control.
Williamson 18, Taylor 26
The left-arm spin of Ravindra Jadeja continues but his over concedes seven, despite getting some turn past the outside edge from his final ball.
Ross Taylor gives Cheteshwar Pujara a long chase to the cover boundary and gets three before Williamson punishes some width with a cut for four to the same position.

I think the easy singles will take the pressure off the New Zealand batsmen. When you're not scoring, and the team is not scoring you feel the pressure. But if Kane Williamson and Ross Taylor rotate the strike it makes things a little easier.
Rishabh Pant has left the field and Wriddiman Saha takes the gloves. Apparently he's feeling unwell.
All of a sudden there seems to be a single everywhere and Williamson and Taylor aren't having to take any risks.
What will Kohli do here to put the pressure back on?

There are a few fluffy clouds blocking the sun at the moment but, finally, blue sky is all around. There will be no problem with bad light tonight, surely.
Williamson 13, Taylor 21
Runs flowing more freely for New Zealand now. Nothing extravagant, but these two are masters in steady accumulation.
Ravinda Jadeja responds with a lovely flighted delivery that deceives Taylor outside the off stump, followed by some quick glovework from Rishabh Pant but the batter's foot was firmly in his crease.

The way these two teams have played in the last few years I expected a very good match, but maybe not as close as this.
Williamson 12, Taylor 19
Ishant Sharma bowls short and wide outside off stump and that's basically a free boundary for Ross Taylor. Don't bowl there.
The bowler isn't happy with the footmarks in his bowling crease and the umpire calls for that hammer thing from the ground staff (I have no idea what the technical term is).

74 runs from 27 overs for New Zealand now. It sounds straightforward but this game has proven that it certainly won't be.
Ishant Sharma takes the ball from Mohammed Shami.

There's been 18 runs in the last three overs after seven runs in the last seven overs. New Zealand are stepping it up a little.
Williamson 12, Taylor 13
Kane Williamson gets some width from Shami but Kohli has expertly put his best fielder, Ravindra Jadeja, in at point and he doesn't let many past him.
But New Zealand's captain doesn't miss out next ball and places it perfectly through point and cover for four.
Shami seems to be tiring and these two batters are just settling things down for New Zealand.

Ashwin against Taylor is a good battle. Taylor would probably prefer to face spin given his struggles against the quicker stuff. He can sweep well, but is not really a big driver of the ball.
Ross Taylor, rejuvenated from finally getting a run, decides to take on Ashwin, lifting one from off stump over mid-wicket for four.
The spinner responds with some lovely drift and turn to beat the inside edge and he can't believe it's missed the stumps - but his excitement is short-lived as Taylor gets another four through extra cover next ball.
That will be a big release of pressure for New Zealand.

Amitabh: Perfect time for Ravi Jadeja to zip through 10 overs from one end, building pressure while Ashwin & Co go for wickets from other end.
Williamson 8, Taylor 5
Kane Williamson gets a leg-bye first ball and gives Ross Taylor five balls to get off the mark.
And Taylor obliges with a cut for four just wide of third man followed by a scratchy single to square leg.
87 more needed for New Zealand.

Never satisfied, Kohli asks for another increase in noise levels from the stands.
As we wait for the drinks break to finish, here are the two wickets that have fallen so far for New Zealand.

Kane Williamson has got himself in and he needs to manoeuvre the ball now around. The same goes for Ross Taylor. You cannot maroon yourself at one end otherwise the pressure will just continue to build.
