Chasing a low total to win a Test match is never straightforward, especially against a bowling attack of India's quality.

But Tom Latham and Devon Conway were composed and watchful, knowing the importance of every single run.

So, in the final session New Zealand need a further 120 to win with all 10 wickets remaining.

Here are those wickets that got them into this position earlier following a bit of a collapse from India.

    Thanks, Tim!

Well, what a day we've had so far and great for the game that, despite the rain, we're pretty much guaranteed a winner one way or the other.

Well that was another pulsating session. Virat Kohli has yet to turn to his spinners and New Zealand look in a commanding position. But could there be more drama? Ffion Wynne is on hand to see you through to the finish.

It's been a battle for New Zealand, still some indifferent bounce out there. Shami the pick of the bowlers so far.

That's tea. India's players drag their heels as they walk off. Everything going New Zealand's way at the moment. They need another 120 runs for victory.

    Target 139

Tom Latham and Devon Conway look ice cool at the crease. This is textbook stuff from New Zealand's openers. They're playing each delivery on its merit, not looking at the situation or the scoreboard.

Mohammed Shami probes away outside Latham's off stump and the final ball before tea lifts off the pitch, but does not draw the edge.

I wonder if New Zealand will have a target over in mind that they'll want to reach this total by - they won't want a last-minute scramble.

    Target 139

Jasprit Bumrah, cogs and pistons clunking during his short run-up to the crease, replaces Ishant Sharma and works the ball through a fourth stump line. He drifts his penultimate ball of the over down leg side and Devon Conway clips it neatly off his legs for four.

Relatively easy going for the Black Caps so far as we approach tea.

Second innings of second Test aside, were we perhaps a tad harsh in the criticism of England in the NZ series? Only have to watch this game to see NZ are a world-class outfit who look right at home in English conditions.

    Target 139

Rishabh Pant thrusts his right arm in the air with a half-hearted appeal after Devon Conway plays at one outside off stump from Mohammed Shami, who looks less interested. Virat Kohli briefly ponders a review, before thinking better of it.

Conway is quickly on to a full ball from Shami, the last of the over, which he punches down the ground through mid-on for four.

    Target 139

Tom Latham gets off nought. First he pushes Ishant Sharma through backward point and calls for a second run. Then he knocks the ball into the leg side and pinches a couple.

New Zealand look like they are up and running.

There is definitely still something there for India's bowlers to work with.

  17. NZ 5-0published at 15:07 British Summer Time 23 June 2021

    Target 139

Tom Latham is the absolute picture of concentration. After blocking a delivery from Mohammed Shami he walks away from the crease, gathers his thoughts, then returns to mark his guard again.

Shami strays on to his pads on the last ball of the over and the ball clips Latham's hip before it races away for four leg byes.

Unbelievable to think that by tonight, a country with more sheep than people, will rule the cricket and rugby rankings. Just wait for them to take football seriously!

    Target 139

The left-handed Devon Conway looks organised against Ishant Sharma. His heart might have skipped a beat when the last ball of the over clipped the shoulder of his bat. Conway, though, played it with soft hands and it dribbled through to the slip cordon.

A tight start from India's seamers. When will Virat Kohli turn to spin?
