    An England comeback is not on the cards, though.

    Manchester Originals captain Kate Cross, speaking after the toss, said: "We are the same and our batting has been a bit of iffy. We need to take responsibility, especially at the top of the order.

    Welsh Fire skipper Sophie Luff, speaking after the toss, said: "Given it's a morning game we want to make most of the conditions so that's the main reason to bowl first.

    "We haven't won yet and it's never easy starting a tournament. Hopefully we'll get that first win and really get things started.

    "We haven't been consistent enough in the top order with the bat. Hayley Matthews has been in good form for us, though, and can hopefully get a big one today."

    Welsh Fire have endured a pretty tough start to The Hundred, losing to Northern Superchargers and Southern Brave.

    They currently sit bottom of the standings after two games. Only a point better off, and a place above them, are Manchester Originals who have one point courtesy of a washout after defeats to Birmingham Phoenix and Oval Invincibles.

    Both teams will be desperate to ignite their campaigns today. Something, you sense, has got to give in Cardiff.
