Mitchell wanted to get to his fifty in style but he has just watched it all the way into the hands of the fielder.

    Mitchell c Rahul b Bumrah 49 (NZ 96-2)

    Agony for Daryl Mitchell!

He attempts to go to his half-century with a six but picks out the fielder on the long-on boundary who pouches a simple grab.

What a great innings though, one you'd imagine has set up a New Zealand victory.

A last-gasp attempt for India here as Bumrah is going to bowl his final over.

New Zealand have played a blinder here tonight, but there is an underlying issue here that India need to address.

  7. NZ 94-1published at 12 overs

Need 17 runs from 48 balls

Now that is an interesting debate. Has it hindered India's progress as a T20 team that they don't play in other franchise leagues around the world?

In today's instance though, the credit has to go to New Zealand. They have been ruthless.

People have played many years in the IPL. They have gone over there in those conditions and caught up with India.

The IPL also generally don't let their players go and play in other leagues and experience those conditions.

So when it comes to tournaments and World Cups outside the sub-continent then questions will be asked because it takes them longer to get into the competition.

  9. NZ 89-1published at 11 overs

Need 22 runs from 54 balls

Virat Kohli saves a certain four at extra cover with a stunning full-length dive but he doesn't even blink.

Jasprit Bumrah repays him by bowling ... a wide.

India have to be a little bit careful here. They need to protect their net run rate as much as they can because they are in a position where they will have to rely on it to got through.

Here's another Daryl Mitchell six for you to enjoy. He's now moved on to 46 from 30 balls.

  12. NZ 83-1published at 10 overs

Need 28 runs from 60 balls

Daryl Mitchell is doing this by himself.

His captain Williamson just stands and admires from the other end as he crunches another four to the midwicket boundary.

And follows it with another down the ground! This is brutal from New Zealand. I don't need to describe to you the look on Virat Kohli's face right now.

The man on the microphone is doing his best to get the crowd going, it's so quiet.

    NZ 75-1published at 9.2 overs

    Add six more!

Short from Shardul Thakur and Mitchell doesn't hesitate in plonking it into the stands.

Daryl Mitchell, on the other hand, has found batting a tad easier.

He's currently 32 not out from 25 balls.

  16. NZ 69-1published at 9 overs

Need 42 runs from 66 balls

It's a fair point. I can't really tell at this stage how much of an advantage batting second has given New Zealand here, or whether it was just India's batting was really bad.

Do you think they should have a dew calculator? Because it seems so unfair that you can go into World Cup match and be put at a massive disadvantage just because of the toss of a coin.

Just the one wicket for India so far, as Martin Guptill played one aggressive shot too many.

  19. NZ 64-1published at 8 overs

Need 47 runs from 72 balls

New Zealand take nine from Jadeja's over without even breaking a sweat.

  20. NZ 60-1published at 7.2 overs

    Target 111

    Oh Kane Williamson, stop it.

In his most characteristic way, he waits an age for the ball to arrive from Jadeja and effortlessly dabs it past short third for a boundary.

He makes batting look so ridiculously easy.
