It has been brilliant from New Zealand. They have stuck to their plans and they have obviously done their homework on the India batters. A lot of the New Zealand players play IPL and that will help.

  2. Ind 73-5published at 15 overs

It's been quite the comeback from Adam Milne.

From the despair of that early dropped catch he has pulled it back with the ball, he's 1-22 from three overs.

Jason Cole: India need 80 of six overs for a competitive score. Big ask I think.

It's too high - Ravindra Jadeja survives!

    Relief for India.

That is close. What a ball to get first up.

Huge appeal as Milne strikes Ravindra Jadeja's pads first ball.

It is not given - but New Zealand review.

The pressure just keeps building. Pant needed a boundary and India are going nowhere.

Adam Milne has had a mixed evening but he'll be delighted to take that wicket.

Pant had to get on with it but Milne employed the 'you miss, I hit strategy' and the bails are sent tumbling.

India are in big trouble. It has been quite frustrating and disappointing how they started. There was no urgency to score.

You can't just hit yourself out of trouble in Dubai. You've got to start aggressively and score runs. To be careful in the first six and then accelerate through the middle it doesn't really happen in Dubai.

They are playing old-school cricket a little bit and like they are playing in India. There looks to be a few nerves. They are under pressure to perform.

Here is the huge wicket of captain Virat Kohli as Trent Boult was perfectly positioned on the boundary to take the catch - with a cheeky celebration to boot.

  12. Ind 67-4published at 14 overs

If India continue at their current rate they will only score 96. Even seven an over gets them to 109.

Some fireworks are needed here if they are to reach a competitive total.

  15. Ind 64-4published at 13.2 overs

    Oh my Jimmy Neesham!

It looks six all the way from Hardik Pandya but Neesham at deep square leg dives one-handed to prevent the ball from going over the rope.

    Incredible stuff.

The pitch isn't playing really well looking at the last two balls from Tim Southee. He is rolling his wrist over the ball and the ball is stopping quite a bit.

If there is no dew later it could be a really interesting game.

New Zealand know their game. They study the opposition and they really know their strengths and play to them.

  18. Ind 62-4published at 13 overs

Interesting. Kane Williamson brings Tim Southee back into the attack in the 13th over, going in for the kill?

Just four singles from it. New Zealand look so well drilled. They have a plan and it has been executed perfectly so far.

If India lose today I think they are out. It is going to be very difficult to qualify if they lose.

  20. Ind 58-4published at 12 overs

More singles and twos from India, but it is boundaries they need and fast.

Mitchell Santner goes 0-15 from his four overs. Incredible stuff from the Kiwi spinner.
