There's a mini-battle going on between Daryl Mitchell and Tom Blundell for who can get to the first half-century of the match here.
Mitchell has 49 and Blundell 48. It has been an excellent partnership.
Home by a good three or four inches.

I think he's back.
If he had gone much further he would have been in big trouble.
Direct hit!
Alex Lees has smashed down the stumps at the striker's end as Daryl Mitchell sets off for a single that isn't there.
He's comfortably home though, surely? They are going to check it regardless.

That was a loose shot from Tom Blundell. It was not there to be hit but he just had a little, pokey waft at it.

Oh! Where's that gone from!?! Matthew Potts gets one to dip, and almost curve, past the bat of a punching Daryl Mitchell. The ball just keeps going down and smashes into Ben Foakes knee and away for a bye.
Beaten! Potts is looking dangerous here. Tom Blundell tries to drive away, but is beaten again.
When Ben Stokes was speaking about Potts in the lead-up to the Test he said he has the ability to make things happen. We're starting to see that.

I thought Matt Parkinson did OK. It's nice to see a spin bowler give it a bit of flight, you probably want it a bit quicker on a surface like this.
He didn't look fazed by the occasion though, playing in front of this big crowd at Lord's.

A good, tight probing maiden by Stuart Broad. He brings Tom Blundell forward and draws a thick inside edge but goes away to square leg.
England are crying out for a bit of pace right now. They could really do with Jofra Archer or Mark Wood.

New Zealand scored 30 runs from 13 overs in the first hour of the afternoon session and then 60 from 14 in the second hour.

Good from Matthew Potts.
He's nagging away on a length outside off stump, trying to tempt Tom Blundell into having a drive.
He draws a tentative prod from the Kiwi keeper, but the ball slides past the edge to the oohhs and aahs from the England slip cordon.

There's a sense of calm and confidence from these two batters.
It has been a struggle for pretty much everyone else in this Test match.

A more sedate over from Stuart Broad as Daryl Mitchell and Tom Blundell help themselves to a single apiece.
This partnership has highlighted why New Zealand are world Test champions. Mitchell isn't even in their usual XI.
It'll be Stuart Broad from the other end.
He got the wicket of Devon Conway in the afternoon session.

We're in danger of a batter getting a fifty here.

Good over for New Zealand.
Matthew Potts goes too full and Tom Blundell throws his hands at it, and even though it's edgy, the ball flies along the ground and races to the point boundary.
Potts over compensates and goes short and Blundell latches onto it and smashes away a pull.
Lovely batting.
The players are back out at Lord's.
It'll be Matthew Potts with the ball after the break.

Saint Alastair: Some question marks over his batting but what a pleasure to watch Foakes is behind the stumps. Makes art of keeping look so easy (it’s not btw) & his balance gives a perfect base for diving any direction. Batting would be more worrying if others above him scoring lots.
Day one, morning session: 39 runs. Six wickets.
Day one, afternoon session:112 runs. Four wickets.
Day one, evening session: 97 runs. Seven wickets.
Day two, morning session: 63 runs. Six wickets.
Day two, afternoon session: 90 runs. One wicket.
The afternoon session saw a New Zealand fightback, though. England only claimed the one wicket, that of Devon Conway, and even that came via a strangle down the legside.
Daryl Mitchell has played nicely - despite the odd hack, much to the anger of James Anderson - and is unbeaten 43 at tea, while Tom Blundell has 39.
The Kiwis lead by 119 and England need wickets and quickly in the evening session.
